    Hi there,

Recently my calendar feed stopped working, and here is why: http://www.feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ccra.com%2Fevents%2Fcategory%2Fpowersolutionsonline%2Ffeed%2F

I have no clue why those random characters are there (highlighted in the link above)

I am trying to set up an RSS Feed Email and it is not accepting the link i’m trying to use: https://www.ccra.com/events/category/powersolutionsonline/feed/

    Please help.

    Thanks,
    Nick

    Hi Margaret.

The special characters highlighted in that link are the decimal code version of an “en dash” character. You can see examples here.

I checked your URL at https://validator.w3.org/feed/ and it came up with the same error.

I removed the en dash characters and it still didn’t validate.

We don’t support exporting events via RSS so I’m not sure this is something I can help with at this time, but I know there are several feature requests mentioning RSS at our UserVoice page. You might find one or more there to add your vote to.

    Hi Cliff,

That’s interesting because just a few weeks ago, I inserted this same feed url into a MailChimp RSS campaign and it was working just fine. When you say you don’t support exporting events via RSS, does that apply to RSS email campaigns as well?

    Thanks,
    Nick

Nick, I found an official reply of ours at Custom RSS feeds and it looks like I misremembered how we support RSS feeds. I got it confused with Allow RSS feeds into the events calendar. Sorry about that.

So, going forward, I logged this as a bug.

Your site is running 4.2.4 and my local testing site is running 4.2.5 and both have RSS feeds not validating.

Our demo site is currently running 4.2.1 and is validating: both http://wpshindig.com/events/feed/ and http://wpshindig.com/events/category/learning/feed/

I’ll mark this ticket as Pending Fix, which means this thread should receive a reply once the applicable fix has been released. I cannot guarantee when it will be fixed as it’s in the development team’s hands now. They need to assign it, code it, test it, and schedule it for release.

I apologize for this issue and appreciate your understanding and patience.

    Hi Nick!

Just wanted to share with you that a new release of our plugins is out, in which this issue is no longer present.

Find out more about this release → https://theeventscalendar.com/maintenance-release-for-the-week-of-27-may-2018/

Please update the plugins and let us know if it works for you.

    Best,
    Victor

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
    The Events Calendar Support Team
