ParticipantI just wanted to touch base and let you know that we are having issues on some of our sites due to the queries used to get a list of events. I did a search on here and noticed others are having the same issues. Just wondered if you had a fix to get these queries to be more efficient or if we should look at replacing the plugin with some thing else?

MemberHi umediagroup,
I’m sorry to hear you are experiencing difficulties.
We are aware that there have been concerns by a number of customers along these lines and we’re actively working to reduce the footprint of our plugins. That said, it isn’t something that we can change overnight as we have a large codebase and need to ensure we don’t make breaking changes that would adversely impact our users.
All that to say, I don’t have any particular fixes I can offer up – but we are actively working to improve performance and make the plugin as scalable as possible.
Thanks for getting in touch 🙂

MemberHi!
Can you clarify which page crashes – is it the main events view (looks like that is currently set to list view and that seems to load snappily for me right now), or a different view? I’m wondering about a couple of other things, too:
- Can provide more information about your hosting setup. Is it a regular shared hosting account, a VPS/dedicated server (what sort of spec if so – and is it also home to other websites)?
- Just for the avoidance of any doubt, are you certain that this issue relates to query performance? What leads you to think so and if you have isolated a particular query can you share any debugging data you gathered?
Thanks!

ParticipantIt actually turned out to be a plugin some one else installed that slipped by testing. Just so you know this issue was caused by the “Yet Another Stars Rating” plugin.

MemberAh hah.
Thanks for reporting that (and great to hear confirmation that it isn’t a bug in our own codebase).
With that in mind I’ll go ahead and close out this topic, but if we can help with anything else please don’t hesitate to post new topics as needed and one of the team will be only too happy to help.
Thanks again!
