I am using EC Pro, Community Events and the Events Rocket plugin. I’m bummed that I cannot place and image or slider above the calendar – but I will just have to pray that an update or plugin comes out for that.

What I really can’t wait for, however is that I, like many users, am having an issue with the calendar appearing behind the primary menu/header. I have read similar posts from other issues but I am not able to resolve this. I have also tried the Events Rocket plugin. Not to beat a dead horse – but and image or slider above the calendar would totally resolve the issue. In any case, can you please let me know how I can lower the calendar on the page so there is no conflict with the menu?

I am using the Kleo theme by 7th Queen.

    Thanks again.

    Howdy Kevin,

Thanks for taking the time to research this, and share what you’ve found thus far. I’ll gladly pickup where you are.

What have you tried for adding a slider or image above the calendar? There are numerous ways to do it. If your slider has a shortcode for instance just copy/paste the shortcode into the setting box “Add HTML before event content” found in WP-Admin > Events > Settings > Display. If you prefer an image instead, then just click the Add Media button in that same box. You could even use this as hacky work around to push the calendar down if you preferred instead, just press enter a couple times to create a few empty paragraphs above the calendar, pushing it down a line or two.

If you want full control over how this looks though, and have some WP Theming experience, checkout our themer’s guide. This would allow you to fully style the content above the calendar, show different content on different pages, and so forth. Using this you could modify your theme’s CSS to push the calendar down. Insert a PHP slider. Or manually put in an HTML image.

Do any of those options work for your situation? If I misunderstood or something please let me know.

    Cheers!

I have to come back to this issue. Adding the Slider to the “Add HTML before event content” found in WP-Admin > Events > Settings > Display does work to place the slider there – however it keeps the slider on several pages related to Events Calendar, including the Event pages! This is really problematic. I know that this has been popular on the Suggested Feature here – but until that is released, there seems to be no easy way at all to have a simple slider above the calendar. Is there any idea when this feature will be released?! When I purchased this theme I had no idea it couldn’t integrate easily with my theme – but in order to simply have a slider function above my main calendar page will require $150 to customize the theme on top the the initial Events Calendar costs itself. Plus, While I love the functions of the Events Calendar, I really need to find way to make this work otherwise I may have to consider requesting a refund and explore using Events Calendar when it is a bit more user/theme friendly. I have had it for 2 weeks and am still at square one in trying to get a slider functioning above the main calendar without affecting other pages and features. Please let me know if there are any other options.

    Thanks again.

    Howdy Kevin,

In the interest of absolute honesty, we have no ETA on the short code feature. I just badgered the managers again about it. Hopefully we can begin building a timeline soon and then I can share it with everyone.

You are correct, if you have no desire to modify templates then there is no way to get the shortcode to appear on some events pages and not others. The shortcode won’t actually change that though. Even with a shortcode implementation, anything you put at the top of the page you embed the calendar in will have that at the top of every page within the calendar.

If you would like I could walk you through how to modify the templates to get your shortcode to appear only on some pages. Which pages do you want it on? There are the main “Archive” views, such as Month, List. Then there is the “Single Event” view. And some other archive views, such as Organizers and Venues.

Or if you prefer we can definitely get you a refund. We will happily provide one if the calendar is not meeting your needs.

    Please let me know. Cheers!
