ParticipantI noticed our new site was loading very slow on mobile devices. I checked and found a conflict with the Events Calendar Pro plugin. (I turned off all of my plugins and turned them back on one at a time, and everything was fine until I turned this one back on). Even the free version doesn’t cause the error.
When I check my domain through Terminal on my Mac, when this plugin is not activated, I get this:
X-Pingback: http://kcpetproject.org/xmlrpc.php
X-Cacheable: YES
X-Cache: HITWhen this plugin is activated, I get this:
X-Pingback: http://kcpetproject.org/xmlrpc.php
X-Cacheable: YES
X-Cache: MISSAnd my sites runs slow. Can someone pleeeeeeeeeeaaaase help? I’m desperate.
Thanks!June 27, 2014 at 4:16 pm #256110Barry
MemberHi – I’m sorry you’re experiencing difficulties.
Can you tell me more about your setup – do you know if you are you using Varnish or similar on your server?
How many requests are you fielding at peak times and what sort of hosting environment do you have at your disposal? When you say everything is running slowly, what sort of figures are we talking about?

MemberOK. When I test out accessing your site via my regular desktop machine and via a cell phone there’s a slight difference – but it seemed pretty negligible and everything loaded pretty snappily.
I see PRO is currently activated (as you have photo view enabled) so I’m wondering if I would need to visit a specific page to see the slowdown or if you’ve noticed yourself that the problem is sporadic? Also:
I just know that when I load the site on my mobile phone, unless I’m on WIFI, it takes much longer to load than any other sites I go to.
Is this perhaps nothing more than a problem that surfaces when connecting via slower connections? The very fact that PRO is enabled may mean additional assets have to be loaded which might make a difference which is particularly obvious on very slow connections.

MemberHmm, puzzling because I noticed no particular slowdown.
Just to clarify, are you inspecting the response headers on your phone itself, or via your desktop/laptop? I notice you initially said this was via the terminal on your mac. For myself, I am seeing x-cache hits for both your main events page and your site’s front page (and see PRO is currently active).
One further question on that front is, when you initially notice an x-cache miss if you test again does it remain a ‘miss’, or does it subsequently become a ‘hit’?
X-cache headers aside it’s a tricky one to troubleshoot since, as before, it loaded pretty snappily for me via a cellphone.

MemberI just tried again and it was MISS the first time, but when I tested again, it was HIT.
So perhaps this is a “red herring” and not really connected with the true problem. What you’re describing sounds reasonable enough – ie, you make a change and though the output is cacheable there may not yet be a cached copy available to serve (hence a miss) … but on trying again there may then be a cached version that can be served (hence a hit).
I’d love to help further, but given the above and the fact I just don’t see an appreciable slowdown I’m honestly not sure what else we can do for you in this case.

ParticipantThanks. I will continue to monitor it and see if anyone else complains about speed, appreciate your help.

MemberDefinitely, please do.
I will go ahead and close this thread – but if it does crop up again (or you have any other issues you need to discuss) please do feel free to open new threads as needed and one of the team will be only too happy to help.
Thanks again!
