What preparation needs to be made to a highly-cached hosting environment, like WPEngine hosting? Also, any issues with using a CDN in that or similar environment?
Since our core product – The Events Calendar – is freely available (and our other event plugins build on its foundations) why not take it for a spin in your target environment?
Where I’ve run into problems with another solution was after getting to several hundred events. Would there be any site performance advantage to run the calendar on its own instance of WP in a multi-site environment – so the main site was on a different instance than the calendar? … or maybe disadvantages as well?
There are lots of variables and every use case is unique (the hosting environment, available server resources and caching configuration for instance all have a bearing on this).
Certainly there are lots of sites out there with our plugins and many hundreds of upcoming events, so in general I don’t think there will be a problem.
If you’re concerned, try simulating this in a test environment with our free plugin and see what you think 🙂
