Hello, I’m a new user of pro calendar. After having configured it and created some events, I have 3 questions :
    – Titles and descriptions appear twice (at the top and at the botoom of the page), in the descriptions of events, as in the description of venues : http://www.comonlight.com/date/formation-prise-parole-en-public/2012-09-12/ and http://www.comonlight.com/lieu/formations-nimes/ Why ? is this a bug ?? how can I correct it ?
    – The title of event list is wrong : as you can see here, the title of the page is the title of the first event I created… http://www.comonlight.com/calendrier/a-venir/
    – Last question : in the description of event, how can I create a field tha would allow to click a link (the plugin in allows to create text, but links ? it doesn’t work if I use ahref, or mailto:…) ?
My configuration is : WordPress 3.3.1 with RTTheme 16 + various plugins : All In One SEO Pack, Google XML Sitemaps, Slick social share buttons and Ultimate Tiny MCE. I’m really not a developer nor a computer specialist, and apologize for my English. Sincerely, Thomas.

    Hello Thomas,

To get us started, let’s make sure you’re on the right operating environment for us to help you out. Can you confirm you’ve done all of the following for me? Often it is one of these that is the cause of most problems, and knowing you’ve taken all these steps will help us pinpoint the problem better.

    1. Are you running the latest version of WordPress?
    2. Are you running the latest versions of our plugins (2.0.8)?
    3. Have you tried deactivating all other plugins to rule out a conflict?
    4. Have you tried reverting to the Twenty Eleven theme to see if it’s something with your theme?
    5. Try setting your permalinks to ‘postname’ in Settings > Permalinks?
    6. Try refreshing your permalinks by visiting Settings > Permalinks (it does it automatically)?
    7. Try increasing the PHP memory for your website: http://www.dailyblogging.org/wordpress/increase-wordpress-memory-limit/?

    Thanks!

I have the same problem with the Event List title thing. It does display the name of the first event.

    Thank you Joyce,
    here are my answers :
    1. My version of WordPress is 3.3.1 and I’d really apreciate not to have to upgrade to the 3.4.1 now !
    2. Yes, I’m running the latest version of your plugin
    3. Yes, I’ve tried. It doesn’t have any effect : bugs are still there
    4. I didn’t try to revert to the Twenty Eleven theme : I don’t know how to desactivate the RT theme I use and moreover I really would like not to have to re-configure it when I re-activate it (I spent days and days to configure widgets and so on). I don’t know if it keeps in memory all those indications when it is desactivated / activated.
    5. My permalinks are already set to “postname”
    6. I refreshed my permalinks
    7. It doesn’t seem to me to be a problem of a lack of PHP memory for my website, nevertheless I modified my htaccess file as required…

Hello Joyce, do you need to hace access to my FTP to see where the bug is ? I really would like to get a solution soon, I bought the add in a 8 days ago and can’t use it by now, but I need my calendar to be on line by the end of the month, for a newsletter I’ll send to several thousands of people… thank you !

    Hello,
I’m just disapointed by your silence. I bought your calendar pro add on 50$ 3 weeks ago, I sent you emails on the 10th of august to inform you of the bugs I was facing, you asked me to post these questions on your forum, so I did on the 13th. We are the 28th of august and I’m stil waiting for an answer. I spent days to configure and customize the calendar pro in french and in relation with my use… for nothing, because I just can’t use it due to these bugs on titles. How do you do in those cases ? do you pay back your unsatisfied customers ? I’m sorry to inform you I’m one of them.
    Sincerely, Thomas

Hello Thomas, I am very sorry you’ve been waiting this long for a response. Normally we get emails telling us when someone has responded to our posts, but I was not getting any due to a possible bug in our system (we are logging and tracking it now, so I will tell the devs about this). I am once again very sorry.

If you would like a refund by all means you can write us at pro /at/ tri.be to get that processed for you.

In the mean time, I would love to help you, but if you can not upgrade your WordPress there is nothing we can do. Our plugin is built to be on the latest standard of WordPress and to work on the Twenty Eleven theme, which is the gold bar for testing against whether something is coded correctly according to WordPress standards.

With that said, if you can not get on to a testing environment at least to set up your site with the Twenty Eleven theme, I’m also not sure we can help out. I have a very, very strong feeling you are experiencing theme issues. If this is the case, we need to know, otherwise it could be very difficult to find out why you are having these problems.

If you can meet us half way and do these steps for us, we can help out where we can. If it does turn out to be a theme issue, you’ll need to contact your theme provider about it.

Once again I’m very sorry for the delay in the response.

    Hello Thomas,
I faced some issues that have been very similar to yours and tried to solve them on my own. I am currently using a theme that is made out of the twenty eleven. I am not quite sure if it makes things better or not, but probably I can share some of the things I did. And you don’t have to upgrade for me πŸ˜‰
    – The title of the event list can be set manually. I got the same issue as you did and I am running 3.4.1. I do not think that this has something to do with the wordpress version. It seems like it is a bug. To solve this I copied the theme that rendered my page views and renamed it to calendar. At the beginning of that page there has to be a

Name it whatever you like. Has not to be calendar. Once you did this you can manually set the title not to be but to be something like “Calendar”. In the Theming Options of the event calendar you now can choose the calendar template to be rendered.
    – The Link field can be done by retheming, too. Just define a text field and enter the link in it. You can retheme the view of the date accordingly so you can display the link with a template coded a-tag. You can look around the theming guide of tri.be and you will find a tutorial of how to retheme the views correctly. This maybe will solve the issue with the double shown title, too.

If you need any more help, please let me know.

    Hello Thomas and Tim,
I am asking a higher level support person to take a look at this.
Thank you Tim for stepping in.

    Hi Thomas and Tim,

Sorry to hear about the issues and delay in response. We’ve had some issues with notifications lately and they should be resolved. My apologies for the delay and inconvenience.

The incorrect title is a conflict with your theme. We do our best to account for all the theming variations out there but there are so many that we cannot guarantee compatibility in all cases. There are a couple of things you can do though:

    1. Try changing the Events Template setting in Events > Settings > Template to the Default Events Template if it’s not already set that way.

    2. If that doesn’t work or you don’t want to change the template and you’re using the Default Page Template for the above option you’ll need to find in your theme where the title for pages is being set (i.e. the head_text div) and override this when on event related pages. You can use the following conditional tags to detect when on certain event related pages: https://gist.github.com/2415009

I hope that helps but let me know if you need anything else with this.

    Regards,
    Jonah

@Tim : I sincerely thank you for your response ! I was feeling a little bit lonely with my problem… I’m glad you managed to fix this problem on your site… unfortunately, it seems there are a few lines missing in your post and I do not understand well how you dit it. Jonah says it is a conflict with our themes. I’m really not sure to be able to solve the problem by my own : I’m not a web developer at all, it seems I got to a point where I don’t have enough skills !

@Joyce : than you for your answer and the support you asked for.

@Jonah : thank you for your response. The setting of the Events Template is “Template to the Default” since the beginning so… as I said to Tim, I think I won’t be able to do the proper corection to the theme I use. To be honest I don’t know how to “find in my theme where the title for pages is being set (i.e. the head_text div) and override this when on event related pages”. I guess it’s not that complicated, but I really do not want to take the risk to make changes that I would not be able to cancel. Moreover, if I managed to customize a little bit various fields, I’m unfortunately not able to override head_text div : I don’t know what it is. Eventually, I spent a lot of time on your add on – that I would really apreciate if it worked with my theme, because it is very useful – but don’t have much time left to spend on it. The head_text div problem is too complicated for me. It’a pity, I really liked your plug in.

    Hey Thomas,
maybe I can help you with that, but doing this in the Comment function of this forums will be a little to complex. If you want to get more help, please contact me via E-Mail at [email protected] . Either I’ll write a more detailled tutorial for you (and my blog πŸ˜‰ ) or I’ll do it for you.
If you don’t, it is fine for me, too πŸ™‚

    All the best
    Tim

Hi folks. Rob from Modern Tribe here; just wanted to chime in to apologize for the poor support experience you have had so far. Joyce is indeed no longer a member of our Community team as of this morning and my colleague Jonah (who has already begun engaging in this thread) will be taking point on it going forward.

Please let me know directly (via email, rob at tri.be) if you have any further issues with how this thread is being resolved. But know that you’re in good hands with Jonah, who will do his best to help get this squared away. Thanks again for your support and patience so far.

    Hi Thomas,

As another follow up to this I would suggest taking a look at this thread where I posted a pretty thorough response on the matter: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/calendar-page-title-shows-title-of-an-event-and-wont-change/#post-19270

I hope that helps but let me know if you need anything else.
