ParticipantI’m looking for a breadcrumb plugin that can be customized for use with the Events Calendar. So far I’ve tried two – NavXT and SEO Yoast. Both work well except for the Events main page – the breadcrumb nav on that page just displays “Home”.
So really, I just need to customize a plugin so it works with the landing page of the Events Cal. On all the other pages, including the Events category landing pages, the breadcrumbs work well.
I’d prefer to use just a simple breadcrumb plugin – SEO Yoast is great, but it’s way, way, way more than I need just for a breadcrumb nav.
In advance, thanks!

MemberCan’t think of anything off the top of my head, Ann, but we can leave this open and see if anyone else is aware of solutions.
One of the dev team did recommend Hansel and Gretel as a very customizable breadcrumb generator, but wasn’t sure if it would work “out of the box” in a way that suits your needs either.
It does occur that – particularly with well built plugins such as those Yoast writes (and perhaps Hansel and Gretel too) – there is a high probability you can hook the breadcrumb code and modify it only for problematic pages, such as the main events page in this case.

ParticipantThanks – I’m sure it’s possible to modify a breadcrumb plugin to appear on the main events page. I’ve seen in other threads on this forum that it’s been done. But! It’s going to take me a while. I’m barely proficient at php.
So if anyone out there has any advice, I’d be grateful for it. IMHO, breadcrumb navigation is a necessity.
And I’ll have a look at Hansel & Gretel – thanks for the tip!

MemberSure – I mean, see what you can do and get back to us. I think my approach would be to pick the (breadcrumb) tool you want and then look at how it will integrate.
We’re happy to help if we can, so just let us know what you’ve chosen and we’ll see if there is a straightforward way to join the two in perfect harmony 🙂

ParticipantMe again! Good news – I found this post https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/showing-events-and-venues-in-breadcrumbs/Â and tweaked it a bit and it’s working just the way I want it to! So, we can mark this issue solved. Yay!
