    Hello,

I need to do some customizations to the Tickets Pro plugin. The documentation recommends creating a folder in the main theme folder. I am using the StoreFront theme from WooCommerce. However, when there is an update to the StoreFront theme itself, the customizations stored in the tribe-events folder is deleted!

As recommended by WooCommerce, I am making customizations to the StoreFront theme in a separate plugin folder (using the WooCommerce Theme Customization plugin).

Question: Is there a way to keep the Event Tickets customization in a separate custom plugin folder (WooCommerce Theme Customization plugin folder)?

    Hey Ravi,

    Welcome back!

I’m unfamiliar with the WooCommerce Theme Customization plugin, but you should be able to back up the tribe-events folder in your theme folder prior to updating your theme – then re-upload the tribe-events folder after you’ve updated the theme without losing your customizations.

You might also try adding the tribe-events folder into the WooCommerce Theme Customization plugin folder and see if the changes made on the back end are reflected on the front end. Similar to the theme, make sure and back up your tribe-events folder before updating the WooCommerce Theme Customization plugin to avoid losing your customizations.

Please let me know if this ends up working out for you as I’m sure others may find the information useful. Apologies I can’t provide more assistance, but good luck and keep me updated!

Thanks for the quick response. I have automatic updates turned on using the Jetpack plugin. This needs to be turned-off, if the Tribes product customizations are to be done in the main theme folder. The WooCommerce Theme Customization Plugin is merely a skeleton plugin that moves customizations of styles.css, custom.js and functions.php to a plugin folder so that future updates of the StoreFront themes do not end up overwriting the customizations.

My recommendation would be to have a similar approach outside the main theme folder for Tribes plugin customization in the future.

For now, I have turned off automatic updates of the WooCommerce plugin and the StoreFront theme and I will backup my Tribes customization before applying an update.

    Hey Ravi,

Thanks for keeping me up-to-date. Glad to hear you’ve got it addressed for the moment. We invite you to add the recommendation mentioned to our UserVoice Feature Ideas as we’re always adding new features and functionality to our plugins.

Thanks for choosing PRO and have a great remainder of your weekend 🙂
