Background Color for Featured Events

I want to change the background color for the Featured Events. I saw the tech note with the CSS syntax .. and tried it in both my theme’s custom CMS as well as as the tribe events CSS .. for some reason, it’s not working .. here’s what I have ..

background-color: #3f441f;
}

What am I missing?

PS .. this particular setting really should be included in the plug-in’s Settings > Display tab.
