i’ve just sort of been ignoring this for a while, because it was easy enough to browse through my events list to find what i was looking for. but now that our site has been up for a while and we have a lot of events- i’m really hoping to figure out how to search for events on the backend.
i’m guessing i may be overlooking something rather simple…

OK. You win today’s prize for best documentation of the issue. We love you for that!
When I tested it out on my own site, the search function was working as expected. Are you running the latest version of the plugins? I appears you are not running the latest version of the plugins and of WordPress? Have you tried deactivating the plugin and reactivating it? Or disabling any other plugins? Just trying to narrow down what might be the source of the problem.

ok, i’ve double checked and see that all my plugins and wordpress core files are indeed the latest versions. they are:
WP: 3.8.1
TEC: 3.4.1
TEC Pro: 3.4
TEC Community Events: 3.4i’ve also tried disabling ALL plugins other than the 3 TEC plugins. that had no effect on the issue. do you have any other ideas?

Well, let’s confirm just a couple more things. Did you disable each our plugins one-by-one? Also, does switching the theme to Twenty Tweleve make any difference? Still trying to identify the source of the problem.

February 18, 2014 at 5:35 pm #106272Aaron MaretParticipantyes, i disabled all TEC plugins and then reactivated them one by one.
my site is live, with a fair amount of visitors so i don’t think switching the theme is an option.
however, i do have a clean test install of my site with just TEC plugins and my theme. when i switched to the default theme on the test site, i see that the search functionality works fine. but when i activate my theme, it no longer works. so it does seem like it’s a conflict with my theme (not other plugins).
does this help clarify what i need to do to resolve the issue?

Thanks so much for giving that a try. So now that we’ve got it isolated to your theme, have you contacted your theme developer at all regarding this? Apparently there is something in the theme that is interfering with the search query. The theme developer should be able to track that down, as I don’t have access to those files. They can download the free The Events Calendar plugin and perhaps use the resources in our Documentation (http://docs.tri.be/) to identify the culprit.
Let me know how that goes.
