Availability of $post within my theme

Hi,

I’m trying to implement your plugin into my theme before buying the pro version. Now I’m running into the problem that the global $post var seems to be populated after my theme functions are run, so basically inside my functions.php I cannot use functions like the_title() to populate a breadcrumb for instance.

Is this by design? Should I use some sort of call before I have the availability over data inside $post?
