Automatic end date for recurring events?

Is there a way to automatically add an end date for recurring events? Right now it appears that when an end date is not selected, a recurring event will go till the year 2020. I have around 10 events on my calendar that are recurring with no end date. This creates almost 1900 events!!!! This is adding a huge amount of unneeded bulk to the database. I can do my best to always manually add an end date, but training a client to do this is another story and I can’t trust that they won’t forget.

Interesting question. The thing is, if I create a new event and set it to recur once a month but em>do not set an end date I am prompted to do so, and the text:

You must select a recurrence end date

Appears in red beside the recurrence fields in the editor. I’m guessing that isn’t the case for you? If so, though I note you’ve tried deactivating other plugins and switching theme, I can’t help but wonder if this is somehow the result of a conflict with third party code.
