Phil
GuestHello,
I have a URL that contains an ICS file. I need Events Calendar to hit this URL daily and import the events. I have a few questions around this:
1. The URL is a PHP file supplied by a vendor that prompts to download the ICS file. Will Events Calendar be able to access this?
2. Do I need to purchase both Events Calendar Pro and Events Aggregator to do this?Thank you,

ParticipantHi Phil,
Thanks for reaching out, I’m happy to answer your questions here!
- Theoretically, this may be possible. Could you send me an example of the link (with the domain changed to “domain.com” for example)? Then I may be able to guide you more specifically.
- If it is possible, you will need Event Aggregator and Events Calendar PRO in order to make this solution work.
Finally, I would recommend checking out the user primer for EA, and this guide about importing .ics files, which may provide some clarity while you await my response.
Cheers,
Shelby 🙂

ParticipantPhil,
Great idea! I wasn’t sure if you had the actual link or if it was theoretical at this point. 🙂
How about you create a private reply with the actual link and I can just test this out for you today?
Best,
Shelby 🙂

GuestHi Shelby,
Doesn’t look like I can send a private reply, perhaps because I don’t have an account?
The actual link I would want to import is here – http://www.greenleepartners.com/ics-events.php
If you could please confirm the following, that would be great!
A) I can have TEC automatically import events from that URL
B) What product(s) I need at a minimum to achieve AThank you so much!

ParticipantHi Phil,
So I did some testing, and unfortunately the auto-import from that type of file won’t work with our plugins out of the box. You could, however, auto import from and iCal or Google Calendar link, if you have these events available in those formats.
So, as it stands, this kind of request would require some customization. We have some resources for doing that here. If you need to find someone to help with the customizations, we also have some tips for finding help here.
I believe, theoretically, you could accomplish this with just Events Calendar PRO and Event Aggregator, but your site and/or the plugins would require some modification in order to download and auto upload the file that the URL you gave me produces.
Hope this helps!
Thanks,
Shelby

GuestCan the file be uploaded manually and work or is it an issue with the file?
March 14, 2017 at 7:10 pm #1254176Shelby
ParticipantHi Phil,
Apologies for the delay here!
The file can be uploaded manually with Event Aggregator and it will work. 🙂
Let me know if you have further questions about this!
Cheers,
Shelby 🙂

GuestI work for a company with many calendars each dept. sets up that run in a daily format. Will I have any problem using the Google Cal ID to import these cals? I think I know the answer, but if I see it in writing, I’d feel better about the purchase.

ParticipantHi Lige,
You will be able to schedule imports from multiple Google Calendars using Event Aggregator. You can read more about how that’s done here.
Also, while you should feel free to follow threads related to your questions, we ask that in the future you open a separate thread, even for similar questions. We’ll be able to give you much more focused assistance and we’d love to help you more individually next time. 🙂
Thanks!
Shelby 🙂

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
