ParticipantI have installed the Community Events plugin to allow submission of events by users. I have a couple of users who will be regular contributors and I would like them to be able to authorise their own events but not be able to edit any other content. Can this be done within the Events calendar plugin or do they need to be set up as users for WP with permissions restricted to events only?
Would they need to submit their events using the form then login to authorise the event?October 18, 2013 at 12:02 pm #71663Casey
ParticipantMike,
It’s definitely possible to give them access to only edit/add events in the back-end. You’ll want to install a Role Management plugin (I suggest this one), which will allow you to manage the capabilities that their user role has access to.After installing the plugin, just go to Users->Roles to edit their current role, and make sure they have the following capabilities checked: http://d.pr/i/XaAv
This should allow them to create new Events, and Edit only Events that they’ve created.
Hope that gets you on the right track! Just let me know if you have other questions.

ParticipantHi Casey,
Thanks for this. I have installed the members plugin and looks OK. Just a couple of questions:
Under capabilities I see you have left the delete_posts checked. Does this allow the role to delete any posts, not just events, and if so shouldn’t it be unchecked? If I would like the user to enter and publish their own events should I allow the capabilities for publish_tribe_events, publish_tribe_venues and publish_tribe_organisers also?

ParticipantMike,
Regarding your first question, no. delete_posts will only allow them to delete their own posts, but it only applies to Blog Posts so you can uncheck it if that’s not needed.Regarding your second question, yes. You should enable those capabilities if you’d like them to be able to publish events without approval.
Here’s more information on Capabilities in WordPress: Roles and Capabilities.
Hope this helps! Just let me know if you have further questions. Thanks!
