ParticipantHi there,
I was looking through the knowledge base and came across the feature to add custom fields for attendee information.
Unfortunately I can’t seam to add the custom fields since the button is not responding. By clicking on the text part of the field or the + nothing is working.I have tried this for existing tickets and created a new ticket, still the same issue.
So I changed my theme to default and now it’s working, I can add the custom fields. But for this to be user friendly enough I can’t change themes every time I create ticket. I am aware of the fact that I can save field settings, but they change which every event so that doesn’t really help. With odd 500 Events per year thats just too much of a hassle.
How is it in anyway possible that the theme causes this problem since I am working in the backend??
I have searched the support forum and couldn’t find anyone with a similar issue. I am using the Jupiter 5 Theme, just for info.
You guys have been really helpful in the past, more than I’m sued too. Would really appreciate some help here.
Hope I’m not pushing it too far 🙂 Thanks a bunch!Regards

MemberHi Ingo, welcome back to the forums and hope all is well!
Oh man, sorry to hear about the conflict here with custom attendee fields. Conflicts like this can happen for a number of reasons but, in this case, it’s possible that the theme is injecting Javascript into the event post editor in a way that conflicts with the Javascript our plugin is using to generate the fields.
I really wish I was able to provide something to fix this right away, but I really think your best bet is to get in touch with the theme author and troubleshoot the issue from that angle. If the functionality works correctly with a default WordPress, then the issue is most likely coming from the theme and the theme author would have the best idea of where to look since they will be much more familiar with the code.
Will you please start there as a first course of action? I’ll certainly keep this thread open in the meantime in case the theme author has any questions that we can help answer from our end.
Thanks so much,

ParticipantHi Geoff,
thanks for your quick response. That sounds like a good place to start.
I will logg a ticket with the theme author and keep you posted.
Best regards

ParticipantHi Geoff,
no luck there. I was thinking this is going to be one of those cases where the one refers me to the other 🙁
their response is:
Hi Ingo,
Thanks for writing in!
Unfortunately giving support for 3rd party plugins is not part of our support policy.
Now my question is, how am I going to get this sorted? I am aware that you don’t give customization support. Would it be possible to get this fixed on contractual basis. Do you guys offer customization as a paid service?
Kind regards
Ingo-

MemberHi Ingo,
Oh man, that is definitely not the reply I was expecting the theme author to provide. Sorry about that and the position it puts you in.
While we do not have contractual services, we do have a list of freelancers who we would happily recommend to help out:
https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/find-a-customizer/
Would you be willing to reach out to folks on that list as a starting point? I’d also be happy to keep this thread open in the meantime in case specific questions about our plugin pop up that we can help answer.
Thanks,

ParticipantHi Geoff,
had two developers look at it so far, none of them could solve it. Still looking, will keep you posted.

ParticipantHi Geoff, issue is sorted. Got a genius guy at “Codeable” that fixed it for me. He created a MU Plugin which I will be using going forward. I hope this fix won’t be overwritten by some update in the future. How exactly he did I don’t know, but it’s working! Cheers!

MemberThat is so awesome to hear! Nice work and thanks a ton for following up to let me know.
I would definitely recommend backing up all your files on all future WordPress, theme and plugin updates moving forward to ensure that workaround stays in tact. 🙂
I’ll go ahead and close this thread but thanks again for following up and definitely let us know if any other questions come up and we’d be happy to help as best we can.
Cheers,
Geoff -
