    Greetings!

I am attempting to alter the maximum allowed events for the events list widget. I have attempted to follow the instructions detailed here. Making these changes seems to have no effect.

Has something changed with the recent updates that breaks this method? We have had some custom work done to the plugin, so our files are in the tribe-events folder inside the theme. I’m not sure if that has any bearing on this problem. Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Good evening Douglas and welcome to the Events Calendar Support forum!

Thank you for reaching out to us and for sharing your system information.

We are sorry to hear that the snippet did not work for you.
I would love to help you with this topic.

I went ahead and tried the snippet with the very latest version of our plugins and the good news is that it works perfectly.

So I believe your hunch is correct. There is a very good chance that there is something conflicting with this snippet in your WordPress theme’s functions.php or within a template override of the list-widget itself (widgets/list-widget.php)

The quickest way to know for sure would be to temporarily revert back to a default WordPress theme (e.g.: twenty-fifteen) and try the snippet there.

Let me know how that goes.

    Best regards,
    Geoff B.

    Hey Geoff,

    Thanks for the response.

I tried reverting back to the twenty-fifteen theme, and was not able to get the snippet to work. Is it possible that there is a more direct way to affect the limit of the plugin? I realize modifying the plugin code directly is not ideal, and will potentially conflict with future updates, but I would be willing to do that if it solves my problem in the short term.

Thanks again for all your help, it’s much appreciated.

    Hey Douglas,

I must say that I am very surprised that adding the snippet in the functions.php file of twenty-fifteen did not work (as long as it’s after the opening <PHP tag). I have ran it on countless installs successfully.

If you prefer modifying the plugin directly however, just to set expectations, the amount of support we can provide is fairly limited.
With that in mind, I would recommend looking at line 63 of Events_List.php in src/Tribe/Shortcodes as a starting point.

Let me know how that goes.

    Best regards,
    Geoff B.
