Hello, I posted a thread about a month ago related to Associating Attachments to Events and got this reply:

Thanks for checking out our plugins!

There is not currently a feature specifically for uploading attachments to events, but what you could do is add a custom URL field (which is a feature of Events Calendar Pro) and then add the link directly to the attachment that you’ve uploaded through the media library. You could also link to a Google doc, or anywhere else you may have the content uploaded.

I just purchased the Pro version and wanted to move forward with this, however I had a few questions:

Do I need to uninstall the regular version of the plugin?
Will I lose events that I have created?
How do I complete the above process?

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

    Hi Brian,

Thanks so much for reaching out!

You can keep both The Events Calendar and Events Calendar PRO.  You will not lose your events with the addition of this plugin.

You can add a custom URL field by going to Events Settings < Additional Fields and creating a custom field there.

Let us know how it goes and if you have any other questions!

    Thanks,

    Jaime

    Hi. We’re glad you upgraded!

Jaime’s correct, but you might also choose to go the route of a Template Override

You’d upload a file to the Event post and then your template override could display what you’ve uploaded. Note this is custom coding outside our Scope of Support / Terms.

If there’s a code snippet you’d like me to put some eyes on or something else I can help you with, please update this ticket or create a new ticket if it’s a separate issue.

Thank you very much for your understanding.

If you need some coding help, you may want to ask your developer or reference our documentation and list of known customizers.

Cliff and Jaime, thanks so much for the replies. I actually put some links in the content area when creating the event and I think it will achieve the same results. However, I do have a couple of follow up questions if possible. When I add the document links it will in fact show in the event page itself, however when you go to the Past Events it shows the old events and the Anchor Text that I put in for the links that I created, yet the link did not carry over to that page…how can I address that(I attached an image of the output)? In addition, is it possible to show the chronology of past events from newest to oldest on load instead of oldest to newest?

Could you please send a screenshot of your PRO Additional Fields settings and explain how you’re outputting the Minutes Agenda on your Events List View?

Hi Cliff, I simply added this text to the content body section on the Event Page as shown in the screen shot attached. I didn’t use additional fields, I just tested it that way to see what would happen…

How I did it is probably not the best way, but I simply need to know how to add links to attachments that are shown both on the event page as well as the filtered past events pages as well.

I think you’re asking about why the link from your event description isn’t hyperlinked in the Event List View.

This is because links are stripped from excerpts, and Event List View is displaying the excerpt.

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
