    Hi,

I’d like to append a third party shortcode (Gravity Forms in this instance) in such a way that it only appears on events of a certain category. The idea is to have a contact form display automatically on events in this category, without having to add it manually.

How would I go about achieving this?

    Many thanks!

    Hey Louise,

Thanks for posting, & Iโ€™m happy to help. ๐Ÿ™‚

Unfortunately, this kind of request would require some customization that we can’t provide on these forums. These forums are intended to troubleshoot issues and field bug reports with our plugins as configured with the latest version of WordPress, WordPress default themes, and our suite of plugins with their out of the box features.

However, we do have some resources for guidance making changes yourselfย here. If you need to find someone to help with the customizations, we also have some resources for finding help here.

Hope this helps, and thanks for understanding!

    Best,

    Shelby ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi Shelby,

Thanks for your reply. In my searches for a solution (and research into other Events Calendar features), I’ve seen a number of other posts on different topics in these forums that seem to provide just this kind of support. For example, here https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/use-event-info-in-gravity-form/ and here https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/query-parameter-for-category/

These posts don’t seem to be part of the Themer’s Guide, so am I in the wrong place? If so could you please point me to the correct forum?

    Kindest regards ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi Louise ๐Ÿ™‚

As Shelby noted, there is a limit to how much support we can offer for customization and custom development tasks in general.

I wish it were different and that we could write custom code for every customer, but we don’t have the resources to do so and always try to be clear that this is not something we are generally able to offer.

There are certainly times where we can go a little further depending on the question being asked – but in general the most we can commit to is pointing you in the right direction. This topic which you referenced is actually a really good example of that: while the user was good enough to share notes on their solution, we weren’t actually writing snippets for them.

In this other topic George is providing answers and guidance in relation to specific questions, but you will again note that we’ve drawn a line and were unable to provide them with a pre-written snippet.

If you do have some specifics you need guidance on, definitely let me know and if I can provide any suggestions I’ll be happy to do so — but this is certainly the sort of custom development task that really needs to be driven forward under your own steam and some familiarity with WordPress development is going to be needed on your side.

    Thanks for understanding!

Hey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.

    Thanks so much!
