ParticipantHi
An event (Speak out for engineering, 21st March) has disappeared from both the event list and calender. Why would this happen?
The event is still published and can be seen if I go directly to the URL.
I have disabled all plugins and reverted the theme to 2011. Still no joy.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
Dan

ParticipantHi Daniel,
Very strange! Can you provide me wp-admin credentials so I can take a look behind the scenes? Please email access to pro [at] tri [dot] be, attn. to me and reference this thread.
Thanks,

ParticipantHey Daniel,
Thanks for sending me login credentials. I took a look at the 3/21 event and right away saw that the event is set to ‘Scheduled’ and not published. This is why it’s not showing on the calendar.
Does that make sense?

ParticipantIndeed it is. Thanks Jonah.
The only reason I can think of why this would have reverted from published to scheduled was that I had to edit the date.
I did so using quick edit. It was after this the event dissapeared. I expected the new date to be published once I clicked ‘update’.Thanks for looking into this.

ParticipantHi Daniel,
That’s odd that the published option is not showing. Are you sure you’re logged in as an administrator and you have not messed with the WP roles at all? Try deactivating all plugins again and/or reverting your theme to see if this has any affect.
Thanks,

ParticipantHi Johan.
Yes, I’m administrator, theme is reverted to twenty eleven and only the Events calender plugin is installed. Still, there is no option to publish.
I carried out a ‘Quick edit’ on a second event (simply changing the time).
Once I clicked update, the meta details for that event changed completely.
However once I edit fully and update, the original details are restored.
Is this to be expected?

ParticipantHi Daniel,
Very strange, this is not to be expected. I’m going to need to get access to your WordPress administration and permission from you to deactivate plugins/revert the theme etc. to continue to troubleshoot this. Please email access to pro [at] tri [dot] be, attn. to me and reference this thread and I’ll take a look as soon as I can.
Thanks,

ParticipantHi Daniel,
Thanks for sending login information across. I’m not seeing the issue anymore though. I’m seeing the event as published in the admin http://cl.ly/image/3O2L170W2G1b and the it’s showing up in the calendar http://cl.ly/image/391Q320z0g0w
Did you figure out what was wrong here?

ParticipantSadly no.
You’re looking at a newly created event with a very similar name/title “Speak Out For Engineering 2013”. The title of the problematic event is “Speak Out For Engineering | MMU | 21st March 2013”.
I needed to do this as the event needs to be active on the site. The problematic event still lies invisible and not published. No change.
Best

ParticipantHi Daniel,
Ok, I think I’ve figured it out. This appears to be normal functionality in WordPress for any post/page you are creating. Once you schedule a post, the options for publishing go away. That’s because it’s scheduled. The only way to publish the post is to change the Scheduled Date back to today or prior. You can test this out with any other post and the same thing happens. So it’s not anything our plugin is doing, it’s just the way WordPress works. I could have sworn that in previous versions you could still select Published from the status drop down after a post had been scheduled but actually that doesn’t make sense if you think about how that would work. Why would you want to have published posts appear post-dated? In the case of events it definitely makes sense, but all you have to do is leave the published date alone (to today or prior) and then change the start/end date of the event and it will display accordingly.
I hope that explains things and sorry for the run around on this.
