Aaron
MemberHi,
I’m currently using Events Calendar Pro Version 1.3.3 and using Gravity Forms Version 1.5.3 to allow my users to post events. I also have license for Calendar Pro Version 2 but I didn’t want to have to rewrite all the customised code I’ve developed.
I’d like to allow my users not have to register to submit an event. At the moment it’s over complicating something that should be really simple for the users. How can I do that?
Please advise, thank you.

MemberHey Aaron. Thanks for the note. We unfortunately cannot provide support for any of the 1.x releases; since 2.0 launched we ended all 1.3.3 (and earlier) support to shift focus just to 2.0. If you were trying to implement this in 2.0 I could try and help you out; we actually have our Community Events add-on in beta right now which accomplishes this, but it will only work with 2.0 upon official release sometime in the next few weeks. Sorry I couldn’t offer up more here.

MemberSo if I had switched over to version two how would it work?
I already purchased the upgrade and therefore see it as an option but what would be involved in the update in terms of my current events, does it read the previous events exactly the same or do I have to migrate the events somehow to support the new version?

MemberI just checked the code and it was a customised page template that was enforcing the user to login to be able to see the gravity form to be able to post an event.
I disabled it, posted an event without logging in and it seem to have all worked fine.
I’m just wondering if there’s a catch waiting for me in a little while for something to break?February 14, 2012 at 10:28 am #15159Rob
MemberHey again Aaron. Thanks for the follow-up. In 2.0, there is a tutorial that Tim Bowen put together on how to allow for frontend submissions with Gravity Forms. While that is not an officially supported workaround on our end (Ie we can’t provide much specific guidance on the forums for customizing it), the majority of users I’ve spoken to have said it works.
Based on what you’re saying in your second post, it sounds like customization was causing the issue here. I can’t see anything that would be problematic based on the change you’ve made…you may want to check whether disabling that custom template has any aesthetic impacts elsewhere on the site, but you should be fine. And it sounds like this will become a non-issue once Community Events is released and you have an official capacity in which to do this.
Let me know what else I can do on my end.
