ParticipantThis was another thread but it is private and closed. WTF! Modern Tribe wtf!?!?
Sorry-
My clients map starts on Africa. Yet they have events in the US.Why?
What can I do about it?

MemberHi. Sorry for the confusion here.
What’s really being shown is a latitude and longitude of 0,0
It happens because your Map View says there are “There were no results found.”
Please add an upcoming event and then the Map View should work as desired.

ParticipantSo if there are no events- my customers see Africa?
December 15, 2017 at 3:45 pm #1406862Cliff
MemberYes… they see 0,0 at the zoom level that happens to display Africa.
How would you prefer it to operate when there are no events?
December 15, 2017 at 3:55 pm #1406864madsap
Participantseeing the country all of my events are in would be nice.
or the state they live in by IP address.OR
“there are no events yet this year.”
all are better then Africa. No one has ever posted an event for us in Africa, so why would we default to that. I understand 0,0- but from the user’s perspective they don’t care about that AT ALL.
Sorry I am a User Experience designer and this shit drives me crazy! 🙂
our business is cyclical.

ParticipantActually- In my Settings- I have the default country set to USA, why doesn’t the map center to USA?
that would make the most sense considering how you have set up the rest of the environment. My client is still upset about seeing Africa and I don’t have a solution outside of a dummy event.
Which is NOT what we want to do here.Do you guys need to hire a UX designer?
That would be a great idea.December 18, 2017 at 1:26 pm #1408195Cliff
MemberThanks for your details. I agree this could be improved how you suggested.
I logged this request with our developers.
The 0,0 comes from Lines 100-101 of /wp-content/plugins/events-calendar-pro/src/Tribe/Templates/Map.php
You could modify that file directly to change those default coordinates, but know that any future plugin update would overwrite such a change.

KeymasterHey there! This thread has been pretty quiet for the last three weeks, so we’re going to go ahead and close it to avoid confusion with other topics. If you’re still looking for help with this, please do open a new thread, reference this one and we’d be more than happy to continue the conversation over there.
Thanks so much!

MemberThe solution I shared isn’t sustainable (have to keep changing it at every update), but please note that we did log this as a feature request.
We’re sorry this issue is the sole reason for no longer recommending our products. We understand our products cannot be the perfect solution for everyone, but we do try to continually improve and hope you can reevaluate us more positively in the future.

MemberGood news! There is a way to customize the center of Map View.
Please give this a shot:
