ParticipantI’m using Event Tickets Plus with WooCommerce. Is there a recommended way of maintaining and optimising the database? For example, if I wish to remove events older than say a year is there a best way of doing this so that it is removed as both an Event and a WooCommerce Product?
Many thanks, Emily

MemberHi Emily!
Thanks for reaching out to us! Let me try to help you with this topic.
We don’t have a specific way to maintain the database other than the usual ways of doing so like with any other WordPress site. I know there are some plugins that perform some sort of cleanup process to the database but I’m not really sure how they work.
If you wish to remove older events to cleanup your database you can do so as you would with any other post or page. If the events you remove have tickets in it, they will still remain as a product in your e-commerce platform you are using. For example, if you are using WooCommerce and delete an event that you were selling tickets for, then the ticket product will still be available as well as the WooCommerce orders for that product.
Depending on your preference, you can then delete those products/orders, but you might want to keep them if you wish to maintain your e-commerce statistics intact.
Does it help with what you are trying to accomplish? Let me know if you have other questions and I’d be happy to help! 🙂

ParticipantHi Victor
Thanks for your advice, that’s really helpful. I’ve started by asking here as you may have said ‘use this plugin’ or ‘try this setting’. I’ll now do some digging to see what I can do. Deleting old events might be a good start, but maybe with leaving the tickets in place as you suggest. And I know there are some actions I can take to help optimise the WooCommerce tables. Hopefully with a combination of things I can get the database a bit tidier!
Thanks again, Emily

MemberHi Emily!
That sounds good! Let me add another suggestion for this.
Since you will be deleting and making significant changes to your site, I’d recommend you perform a full backup of your site, both database and files just in case something unwanted happens and you’ll be able to go back to a previous state.
In addition, we always encourage to setup a dev/staging site where you can try all this changes without disrupting the live site. Once you are happy with this changes you can then make them in the live site.
Since you marked this Resolved, I’ll go ahead and close it. But feel free to open a new topic if any other questions and we’d be happy to help. 🙂
Best,
