ParticipantHELP! I use the Advanced Custom Fields plugin (ACF) with Event Calendar Pro, and since the upgrade to 4.0 I’m encountering an error. It was working fine before the upgrade and I need to get things working again asap!
Here’s the deal:
- I have a Custom Post Type called “Artists”.
- I use ACF’s “Relational” field type, which allows the user to select all the artists who presented at a given event.
- This was working just fine… And all the legacy data that was entered before the upgrade was working. (Here is a page that was created before the upgrade)
- But now, whenever I try to select an artist on the Event page, I get a “Loading Failed” error. (see screenshot).
I’ve checked my javascript console AND I’ve turned on WP_DEBUG and I’m getting no errors… So I’m not sure where the problem could be. But, as I said, it was working JUST FINE before the upgrade to version 4.0.
I’ve also submitted a ticket to the folks at ACF, in the hopes that someone can help me figure out what’s going wrong here. I need to get this working asap! I’ve got a team of people who are working on adding all of the artists right now.
Thanks!

ParticipantAnyone have any idea what could be happening with this? I’d love, at least, a good idea of where to look for what might be breaking the functionality that was working before this.

ParticipantHey Ernest,
Thanks for reaching out to us!
I apologize for the issues you’ve faced with updating the plugins. I did a quick test with a relationship field by adding a new field group to display on the tribe_events post type and add relationship for posts to be attached to the event and everything worked as expected within the dashboard.
You could try testing with another post type to see if there is possibly something different with the way the post type is registered? If you would like as well, you can send me the code that you’re using to register your “artist” post type and I can test to see if there is something different there that could be triggering the error you’re seeing.
Thanks!

ParticipantThanks a ton for your help with this. I really appreciate it. Once I got the word from you that ACF was working ok with the new version, I dug deeper into my functions.php and found the offending code that was actually causing the error (it was a change to the sorting on AJAX that I was doing… But I no longer needed). Once I removed it, things were back to normal and everything is working expected.
Thanks a TON for getting me to look in the right place. I really appreciate it.
Cheers!
