    Hi,

On the events admin page, the default view is to show the events that are furthest away first – For example, lets say you have a recurring event taking place every month on the 30th running all the way up to April 2015. It will show the April 30th 2015 event first (top of page) and the August 30th 2014 event last (bottom of page). You need to click on the ‘Start Date’ filter to order them in an ascending manner.

Is there a way to show the events list ascending by default? It doesnt make any sense to show the last recurring event first…

    Thanks

    Hello flawlessvictory,

There is unfortunately no way to change the default ordering, but it is sortable.

You can click on the column heading, or use the url ‘wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=tribe_events&orderby=start-date&order=asc’

Does this make sense? Let me know if this doesn’t work for you.

    Cheers!

    Hi Casey,

I understand that you can click on the column heading to re-order; I am just wondering what the logic is of having this setup? i.e. Displaying the furthest away event on the page when its first loaded…

Sorry flawlessvictory, I’m not sure I have a good answer for you. I can definitely see how you the ordering would help.

I’ll talk with the devs to see if there was an intention to this. Otherwise, you may be able to use this plugin to arrange how you like. There may be another if that doesn’t work.

If you have a moment, we’d love for you to submit your idea to our UserVoice forum. We take user ideas and contributions very seriously, and many times their ideas end up in our future releases.

Does this make sense? Let me know if this doesn’t work for you.

    Hello flawlessvictory,

Talked to a dev and got a good response!

We have many customers with a lot of previous events, so if there were sorted by straight ASC of the _EventStartDate, you’d have to page through all the past events first.

So let’s say you land your results in the middle of your ASC sort, with the past behind you. Then brings in a question of pagination. WP_Table isn’t quite built for that, and while it would be somewhat easy to implement, it would involve the same feature polish and testing of all our other features. Its an unspoken request competing with many other requests, which is why we haven’t implemented it yet.

So default DESC sorting works best for now.

If you vote on Uservoice though, it will get on public record, and others may vote for it!

Does this make sense? Let me know if I can explain anything else!

    Cheers!
