Adding social media fields for Organizer & Venue

Hey Rob thanks for the reply. AddToAny only seems to add social media sharing/following for my blog. What I’m looking to do is show the social media links to the organizer and venue profiles in ECP…eg in addition to address, email, website, I’d like to add fields to enter te appropriate details for Twitter, Facebook, and Linkedin profiles/pages for a venue or an organizer. Then have the option to display these fields in the single event view.

Ah, I see what you’re saying. Thanks for the follow-up Carlos. So you just want to add these as additional venue/organizer data that appears on the frontend.

That’s an interesting request. Offhand, I’m not sure how to do it or if it’s even doable in the current release. But Jonah may have an idea – let me get him to see what he can share, if he does.

Thanks Rob! Part of the goal of what I have in the works is to spread the social media love for the organizers and venues associated with the events, so even if its just a plain button hyperlink field to their twitter feed, facebook page, or linkedin page that would be great. Obviously a fully functional social media add in where a user could click to follow or Like would be great, but I’d be happy with a quick way to promote their social media outlets.

Hey Carlos, adding the buttons for Venues shouldn’t be too difficult but it’s not something we can help you with. You can access the Venue templates and other templates through our plugin and add the buttons where you need them. Organizers don’t have their own pages like Venue’s do so you would need to code the Organizer share buttons different. And, some of the buttons you’ll likely need to customize to use the specific links you want. I’ve done that with the AddThis button API but not the AddToAny buttons.

I agree it would be nice to have an add on for this and it may come in the future. For now I would suggest adding a feature request to our feature request thread in the forum.

Thanks Jonah! Sounds good…I’ll tinker around…thought I’d ask in case it was something easily executed through the standard ECP coding/interface. I’ll add it to the feature request forum.
