ParticipantHey Sam,
Thanks for reaching out, however these forums are our “Pre-Sales Questions Forums.” For any technical questions about our free plugins, please post in our free support forums at http://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar
If you have premium licenses with us, then to ask questions about these plugins, please log into your account here on http://theeventscalendar.com and post in a premium forum.
Now, as for your question here itself, we unfortunately have no special compatibility on our end for Visual Composer, and have no code that adds The Events Calendar to it in any specific way.
I would recommend reaching out to the Visual Composer folks for help with this; perhaps you can enable support custom post types a certain way within that plugin, in which case you could possibly use those methods for and with the “Events” custom post type.
Thank you,

Guestcheers for the quick response george.
hopefully it’s ok for me to ask a second question on here which may relate more specifically to a pre sales question.
i’m currently re-doing the website to our local church for free and was trying to do it at no cost to the church. i came across your plugin when viewing theme
http://boxydemos.com/preview/?product=6333987
most specifically i would like to know if the feature of having the weekly event schedule on the home page where you can scroll between previous/next weeks is available on the free version?
if it is only available on the PRO version is there possible discounts for the church if it is a non-profit organisation?thanks very much for your help
cheers

ParticipantHey Sam,
Thanks for the follow-up here. Just to be clear, NOTHING on that boxydemos.com URL is something that our plugins provide. The link you shared does not have The Events Calendar or any of our other plugins on it. The “event” functionality on that page is powered by something else.
When it comes to weekly event schedules and such, our premium add-on Events Calendar Pro does have a “Week” view. It is not what you see in that boxydemos.com URL, though. To see our actual Week View, head to our official demo site here and play around with the different views → http://wpshinding.com/events
We do indeed have a non-profit partnership program that grants a free license for Events Calendar Pro to approved organizations. To apply to get accepted into this program, head over to this page to learn more → https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/do-you-offer-discounts-for-non-profit-organizations/.
You will find the link to the application on that page, as well 🙂
Thanks,

GuestHi George,
I hope you don’t mind me replying but I was browsing through and noticed Sam’s second request R.E. the weekly calendar.
I was asked to replicate this exact calendar just last week by a client. If it’s any help to Sam, it was a little bit of a hack, but I repurposed the “This Week” widget and overwrote the templates within my theme to achieve the look I wanted.
The day by day events below the week were handled with a custom AJAX script and in the end I called the whole thing using the [tribe_this_week] shortcode.
That said, I’d be interested in turning this into a plugin for my own use in the future, rather than butchering the “This Week” widget again, do you have any docs on extending The Events Calendar to create new widgets?
Apologies for semi-hijacking the thread.
Cheers,

ParticipantHey Daryll,
Interesting question! The way “widgets” are created in WordPress makes it something that’s a bit tricky to do in a context of “extending” The Events Calendar.
In other words: for the changes you describe, at some point these would require significant enough code modifications to the existing “This Week” widget code that you would need to make your own Widget, or do as you’ve done thus far and modify the “This Week” widget code directly 🙁
You mention that you eventually end up loading the content with the [tribe_this_week] shortcode anyways, so making a custom widget of your own may be much less of a lift than you think. Articles like this one cover the basics of creating your own widget and I would recommend taking a look at the process → http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-create-a-custom-wordpress-widget/
I hope this information helps!
