ParticipantHi,
Firstly, I just want to say I love your products and the support I get from you guys/gals, when I have questions.
Ok so to my question.
I advertise tours in Event Calendar that I run. On some tours I have “add-ons”, such as a single supplement for accommodation or an extra day trip option. Currently, I have just added extra tickets for the different add-ons which customers want to add to the tour, but it creates different tickets for each item. See example here: https://www.jamesdoylephoto.com/?p=32670
What I would like to do is somehow setup a way where they can add the different add-ons but have them all linked to the main event using one ticket. Similar to how a normal variable product is done. Example here: https://www.jamesdoylephoto.com/?p=5766 where they can select from a drop down or something.
I tried setting up the add-ons as variable products on the event product in Woocommerce but it didn’t work. I’m even looking at purchasing the Woocommerce add-ons extension but I’m not sure it will work with Event Calendar.
Any suggestions of how I might be able to do this would be appreciated. I’m not sure if this is possible within event calendar.
Thanks!
Cheers
James

ParticipantHey James!
Thanks for reaching out to us, and for the kind words. Glad to have you here and to help ๐
Or, at least, to try to help โย I unfortunately do not know with 100% certainty if the WooCommerce Product Extensions add-on will help you out here. But, I’m reasonably confident that it will, and hope very much that you try it out.
Here’s why:
Though you mention failing to get things to work by creating variable-products with the tickets within WooCommerce, the extension might yield different results because our WooCommerce Tickets are just WooCommerce “Products”. In other words, if that WooCommerce Extensions add-on can successfully link other “Products” within your WooCommerce store to the ticket products, then in theory they should work fine together at checkout.
It’s possible that it still won’t work, so I don’t want to get your hopes up or promise anything magical here.
But WooCommerce has a great 30-day refund policy, as well, so you should be able to try out the add-on and get a refund for it if it doesn’t work without any hassle.
I don’t know if the information here is helpful โย let us know if it is, or if you have any followup questions/concerns/fun jokes/whatever.
Cheers,

ParticipantHi George,
Thanks for getting back to me.
I did end up buying the Woo commerce add-ons extension, thinking the same thing as you. That given that Event calendar hooks into WC as a product that it should work but alas after a number of different tries at different ideas, it just doesn’t want to show up in EC. I spoke with support over at WC this morning and they said it wouldn’t be compatible. So they gave me a refund.
What I ended up doing as a solution was I made tickets for each of the bundles of options instead. E.g.
1. Tour without add-ons
2. Tour with single supplement
3. Tour with reef tour
4. Tour with all add-ons
As you can see, itโs workable in that they only have to purchase one ticket for the items they want instead of the multiple tickets that I had setup initially.
I’ll go with this for the moment until I find something different to presenting multiple tickets on an single event.
Just in passing, I had no problems with the 3.10 upgrade, all I had to do was reset the map coordinates in the venues and that was it, everything ran great! ๐
Thanks for the help, suggestion about the tickets George.
Cheers

ParticipantHey James,
I’m sorry that WooCommerce add-on didn’t work out, but I really appreciate your update here and for being cool and understanding about some of the software limitations we face right now. Hopefully over time our tickets add-ons only get more closely integrated with the eCommerce platforms that are their namesakes, but for now, I’m glad you’ve at least got a workable solution in place.
Thanks James, best of luck with your site. If other questions/comments/concerns arise, come back to the forums and open a new thread any time ๐
Cheers!
