Adding a sidebar to the event pages.

I would like to have a sidebar on my event pages. The only way to do this is to change the display settings to reflect my theme. However, the sidebar is blank. How do I populate the sidebar with 1) widgets 2) event info, i.e., details, venue, map, organizer, etc.?
