ParticipantHi,
Love this plugin, thank you so much for making it!
I was wondering, how would I go about adding a category assigned thumbnail to the post previews in the list view section?
Also, is it possible to create a ‘sort’ type of feature where I could add the categories that I’ve created onto a submenu on the left hand side of the page, so that when they clicked the menu property (e.g. yoursite.com/events/mediareleases/) they would only see media releases and no other types of event posts?
Thank you and sorry if I’m not explaining myself very well (I’m a designer not a developer ;))

MemberI’m not 100% sure about adding a category assigned thumbnail … do you mean you want a specific thumbnail or featured image to show for each category?
If so I’d imagine that’s possible but would probably require a little custom coding and it isn’t something we can help too much with, I’m afraid.
You can definitely create a custom menu of event categories though, which may solve the second part of your question – simply by adding event categories to a menu through the Appearance > Menus screen (you can then assign the menu to a menu widget or else add it programmatically from within one of your templates).
Hope that helps!

ParticipantHi Barry,
Thank you so much for your reply, it helped alot!
I managed to get it into the submenus and the header menu.I’m having a slight problem though (not related to the above).
How can I set the category ID as the title on a page?
For example, I’ve clicked ‘media releases’ in the side menu to only show media releases.
How can I get the text ‘Media Releases’ to show on the page as a heading?June 3, 2013 at 7:17 am #50367Barry
MemberIt should be there – you should see something like Upcoming Events › Test or Calendar of Events › Test (depending on your settings).

ParticipantHi Barry,
Sorry I actually meant something like printing out a heading tag that has the title of the page printed. For example I’m in Upcoming events > Conferences > Help the needy conference
When I click the page I need it to just print out “help the needy conference” as a heading tag on the page.
Thank you!

MemberOK, well you can use WordPress’s single_cat_title() template tag to print out the category name – you may also be interested in our Themer’s Guide and template overrides tutorial:
