ParticipantHi there,
I need to have additional HTML content at the top of my main ‘events’ listing page, which I have added via the ‘advanced template settings’ under ‘display’ settings.
However this content also appears at the top of every one of my individual events pages. This doesn’t make sense in my context.
Is there a way to prevent the additional HTML content from appearing in the individual event pages, but keep it for the main /events page?
Thanks

ParticipantSmall update: I’ve been trying to override the added HTML content but can’t figure out what to override. I tried deleting sections from single-event.php but nothing in there seems to control this added HTML content. Is there another php file I need to be editing? I looked at the list of php files in the themer’s guide but couldn’t identify the right file to edit based on it either. Thanks in advance for any advice.

MemberHi Karine,
Thanks for getting in touch!
Great question. We actually released a new extension just the other week that allows you to choose the pages where you would like the custom HTML to display:
https://theeventscalendar.com/extensions/display-custom-html-specific-calendar-views/
Does this help answer your question? Please let me know. 🙂
Cheers!

ParticipantHi,
Wow! That is just what I had imagined, actually. What a nice coincidence!
The only thing is, when this extension is activated, it seems to do some strange stuff to my single events pages (even when content is not set to display on them). It is changing styling of various elements (making buttons very small e.g.), and with certain styling settings it is pushing the event details sidebar down to the bottom of the page for some reason, leaving a big blank space where it normally would be. I guess this might be because the extension is overriding a bunch of my existing CSS.
I’m thinking I will try to resolve these issues with some more custom CSS, and will get to you if that doesn’t work.
In any case, thanks very much, this is exactly what I needed!

MemberAwesome! I’m so glad to hear that’s what you were looking for — we just released that Extension Library and this is exactly the sort of feedback we were hoping to hear. 🙂
Yeah, styling can be tricky depending on the theme and how the stylesheets interact with those of the plugin. The extension itself shouldn’t be loading any new or different styles but definitely let me/us know if you bump into any issues with the CSS and we’d be happy to at least take a look and see if we can offer any pointers.
Cheers and happy new year!
