ParticipantHi there
After experiencing major issues with our wordpress installation, the hosting company (Kinsta) advised that a plugin conflict was causing the issues.
After much trial and error I’ve realised that it was activating Pro that was the issue. I can deactivate all plugins and then activate Events Calendar (and WC Tickets) and we’re fine but as soon as I activate Pro, the server grinds to a halt.
This is easy to replicate on our staging site but there’s nothing showing in the WP_DEBUG error logs that would explain this.
We’re running v3.12.1 of the base events calendar plugin and v3.12 of Pro and WC Tickets.
I’m happy to provide admin login to our staging site…

ParticipantHowdy byronclinic,
Thanks for the detailed breakdown. I am sorry you are experiencing speed issues. Let’s dive in and see what we can find.
I have some questions for you.
- When “the server grinds to a halt” do you see white screens instead of pages? Or does it just take noticeably longer for the page to load?
- Have you tried a performance analysis plugin like P3 Profiler (click here)to help glean more information?
It is truly unique for the deactivation of Pro to speed things up. Never seen that before. We do on occasion see folks with many tens of thousands of events or underpowered servers with issues, and usually they just need to upgrade their server. But deactivating Pro does not help in those scenarios. It seems like it might be something unique to the Kinsta hosting environment. A lot of the WordPress only hosts are rather atypical environments. Not that this is a bad thing as it usually helps them offer better performance, but the uniqueness can also cause odd behavior in plugins and themes at times.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Let me know your answers to eh above so we can proceed.
Cheers!
