ParticipantDear support,
we have an issue with saving reoccurring events on our system. When trying to save we get a 500 server error and the debug.log tells us, that we ran into a memory exhaustion in events-calendar-pro/src/Tribe/Recurrence.php (sometimes line 92, or 93 or 96).
We increased the max memory allowed to be used by php to 512MB but still getting this error.
I saw another ticket with the same Topic, but it is set to private. Is this a known problem? Do you know how to solve it? What is your recommendation for allowed memory usage when using EventsCalendar in a multisite environment with some hundred wordpress-sites?Thanks in advance for your support
Best regards
Daniel

KeymasterHi Daniel,
Thanks for getting in touch!
Sorry to hear about this issue with the recurring events.
If you can find it again, can you share with me the url to that private topic you mentioned? I can check if there was a solution there.
Also, to move forward with this one, please share with me a screenshot of how the recurring event is set up, what are the recurrence rules.
When was this event created?
It can happen if there are too many rules then you run into a 500 error.
I’ve also seen cases where a recurring event was created with an older version of our PRO plugin, and it gave a 500 error after an update. This was more prominent about 1.5 years ago when we changed how the recurrence rules are handled in the background.
The more memory and execution time you have, the better. But I believe you should be OK with 512, even with 256.

ParticipantHi András,
first of all, the link to the private thread: https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/500-error-trying-to-update-recurring-events-memory-size-exhausted/
I attached an image which shows one of the events we have those issues with. It was created on March 20 this year.
Perhaps this helps you giving advice as to what we can do, to solve this problem.
Thx in advance
Daniel

KeymasterHi Daniel,
I checked that other thread. There the hosting provider increased the allowed memory to 2GB rightly saying “way above what it should be I think”. So much memory shouldn’t be needed, I agree.
Afterward the issue disappeared and the other user couldn’t reproduce it any more.
This could be one reason / solution.
On the other hand I see that you are using the ‘once’ rule for the recurrence rules. Are you having issues with events that use the ‘once’ (Einmal) rule, or also with recurring events that use different rules?
(We are aware of an issue with the ‘once’ rule, where the events are not being created. A fix is coming soon for this.)

Thanks so much!
