Hello. I’ve tried the WordPress support pages. No response.

So I’m a PRO user today. Hope someone can help.

Some facts first:
1. Permalinks on my site work
2. The problem below exists when all plugins are disabled, and the theme is WP default

Our URLs:
http://thearcofluzernecounty.org/events/

A newly created event that shows 404:
http://thearcofluzernecounty.org/event/big-event-coming/

An old event that doesn’t show 404:
http://thearcofluzernecounty.org/event/family-meeting-with-acting-deputy-secretary-fred-lokuta/

Issue:
When we create new events, they’re apparently being created with wrong dates. In the events listing, they are being added at the bottom in the “Events” listing. Not sure if that has something to do with, but any new event we create is NOT being shown in the category listing (URL above) and clicking on “View” or preview in wp-admin shows a 404 for the actual single page of the event.

We desperately need this resolved. Please help us.

If we need to provide some info to debug, let me know. I can also create an admin user just for this and share with someone at TRIBE.

Thanks!

Hi – I’m sorry you’re hitting difficulties.

When I visit your main events page and navigate to the upcoming events list it looks as if you currently have zero future events, which of course means any single event URLs will indeed result in a 404 not found error (unless they relate to pre-existing events which have now past). On reviewing your past events list they all seem to work as expected.

Can you add a test event in the future and let me know which date it’s taking place on so I can take another look?

Thanks!

Just to add a screenshot:

View post on imgur.com

Hope that’s clear. The 2014 events are all listed there. Including the one I linked to in my very first post which is showing a 404 too:
http://thearcofluzernecounty.org/event/big-event-coming/

As you will see from the screenshot that event is on July 3 2014. But it does not show up on the events calendar main categories page either — http://thearcofluzernecounty.org/events-calendar/ (no listing here at all!)

Hi morespinach,

It’s generally best to avoid using private replies unless you are sharing sensitive information – simply to help other customers who might be researching the same/very similar issues in the future.

Not sure if you read my message. I already said that the events we now create:

1. Are being created oddly as in the events listing in the admin area (which is sorted in the chronologically descending order — new events are at the top) the new events are now being shown at the bottom. The dates etc seem fine, but wordpress is somehow recognizing them wrongly.

Yes, I read your message but admittedly it wasn’t clear to me that you were referring to the admin events list in your initial post – thanks for clarifying 🙂

2. I did include the URL of a newly created event. That shows a 404.

Please read my message again and let me know how I can help you help me. After over a day you have merely updated the forum post with a completely useless idea without reading what I wrote.

I hope you can appreciate I simply wanted to clarify that there was indeed an existing future event (given I couldn’t see it listed under the upcoming events list). It’s not uncommon for people experiencing difficulties to create and delete events while waiting for a reply and, while I can understand your frustration, I simply wanted to flesh out the situation.

I paid 65 dollars for 24 hour support. Hope you can help me.

For the avoidance of any doubt, please note that, yes, we do strive to reply within 24hrs of a post being made within the working week – while that’s not always possible we do work hard to ensure we meet this goal and I believe we are operating within it at present 🙂

From here I’d love a little more information:

• Can you share the system info provided in the Events > Help admin screen?
• In addition to the above, can you confirm if you are/have been using a caching plugin?
• When did this start happening – has it been a problem from the moment you started using The Events Calendar? If not, did you update anything or change any settings prior to observing this behaviour?

Thanks!

As I had mentioned in my first post, I can create an admin user for you to test things. All these questions are now inane.
1. Can you share the system info provided in the Events > Help admin screen?
Included at the end of this message.
2. In addition to the above, can you confirm if you are/have been using a caching plugin?
Yes. We use Hyper Cache or WP Fastest Cache. So? As I mentioned, the problem persists WITHOUT ANY plugin being activated at all, and with WP’s default theme too. So let’s get over this question now. Also, the issue of events being created in chronologically messed up order…that’s independent of anything else.
3. When did this start happening – has it been a problem from the moment you started using The Events Calendar? If not, did you update anything or change any settings prior to observing this behaviour?
We upgraded to 3.5.1 at first. That’s when it began. Then I recently upgraded to PRO as I mentioned, hoping to get swift support. Hope I do get it.

OK, I’m unclear why you feel the questions are “inane” but thanks for taking the time to answer them even so.

Honestly, your replies are sounding increasingly hostile. All we want to do is build up a full picture of the scenario and that may take a little back-and-forth – but that’s just the nature of things.

I also understand you want fast support – but this is the speed we operate at and this is the sort of style in which we deliver support: if that isn’t meeting your requirements perhaps it would be better to discuss alternative avenues such as a refund so you can invest in a plugin with a level of support that will better suit your needs?

If so, please do email us at pro (at) tri (dot) be with a link to this thread and a copy of your purchase receipt. If you’d rather focus on the problem at hand we’ll be happy to move ahead with that but, please, let’s avoid the sniping.

Yes. We use Hyper Cache or WP Fastest Cache. So? As I mentioned, the problem persists WITHOUT ANY plugin being activated at all, and with WP’s default theme too. So let’s get over this question now.

Please understand that it’s very hard to know exactly how technical a given user’s knowledge is – so perhaps you’ve already covered this – but some users are unaware that the effects of caching can persist even after it has been deactivated (since the .htaccess file may have been modified and there may still be cached files present – meaning they may still be used – and/or the sunrise.php drop-in may not have been removed when it was deactivated).

Now we know that you did indeed have a couple of caching plugins in place, can I ask you to repeat the initial troubleshooting steps – deactivating all other plugins and switching to a default, unmodified theme – with caching disabled and completely removed? The author of each caching plugin can advise you on the steps required or indeed you can hopefully find docs to help with this on their site.

Of course, if you have indeed already covered this then that’s fine – but I would like to ensure this isn’t the problem, or at least contributing to difficulties when troubleshooting by obscuring the true state of things.

Also, the issue of events being created in chronologically messed up order…that’s independent of anything else.

OK. So for this problem (the order of events in the admin environment) which is, as you say, independent of anything else, please create a new thread – as we do try to stick to one issue per thread – and one of the team will be only too happy to help.

Last but not least, I wanted you to know that I will be out-of-office for a few days and this thread will quite likely be reassigned to another team member: particularly as we are coming off the end of a holiday weekend that might mean there’s a further slight delay – please do accept our apologies on that count

… Just to add, on the back of the point about caching – visiting the Permalink Settings screen and resaving them may be worth a shot as it can trigger a rebuild of the .htaccess file (assuming that is in use in your hosting environment – of course, it may not be).

Thanks again!

I asked the first question two weeks ago. On the WP forums. Since then, and the paucity of help there, I have paid for PRO. Instead of understanding my situation — which is elaborately detailed with

1. Exact info including what the problem is
2. When the problem started
3. Screenshots of how things look
4. Debug info (including the HELP stuff you requested)
5. Above all, even the offer of giving you an “admin” ID

Instead, you’re busy calling me hostile and getting your knickers in knots.

I have spent enough time trying to make this work to want to solve it. Hopefully this will be quicker than investing time in yet another plugin, and losing my older event calendars.

If it is possible to just go back to an old Event Calendar plugin (as of last year), then please advise. I’m happy to try that.

There is no “separate issue”. The Event Calendar plugin (PRO or otherwise) is acting weirdly by creating calendar entries in an oddly chronologically messed up way. I am presuming this has something to do with the fact that they’re not showing up at all in the events calendar page on the website (you have all the URLs). If it doesn’t, well then solve my 404 problem and we will then deal with the date listing later.

AND I hope you will read this time:

WE HAVE DISABLED ALL PLUGINS, INCLUDING CACHING, AND THE PROBLEM REMAINS.

Let me try and highlight that for the fourth time in this thread:

We have disabled all the plugins, including caching plugins, and moved to the WP default theme, and the new events STILL give the same problem.

Is this clear? Please confirm.

I am happy to write this about 10 more times before losing it. THis is now the second week and you’re repeating the exact same thing which I had mentioned in post #1 here. Which you didn’t read. This is textbook definition of “inane”.

But, for now, please help me with some intelligent hypothesis of what’s going wrong. Note from your WP support forum that I am not the only one having this issue.

Thank you.

If it helps to add, I am not the only with this issue:
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/page-not-found-error-all-or-a-sudden?replies=15#post-5763600

And this is my original thread there with a lot more info (and still no real help) —
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/how-to-upgrade-from-351-to-361?replies=11

Hope someone here in the PRO help team can help. I am happy to create an admin user ID if that expedites things. This is my last attempt. If you aren’t able to help but want to keep asking the same questions over and over again, then yes, please let me know how to get a refund. I’ll just create a new post type of Events and do my own theming of them. Thanks.
