I want to list an exhibition which runs for 3 months Tuesday – through to Saturday each week. If I list as recurring every week (so it shows correctly on the caledndar) on the event list instead of showing Exhibtions A 8th March – 8th June it shows every day as a separate listing so totally cluttering up this view. If I list as one continous date then on the calender view it shows as being on on a Monday and Tuesday when it is not. Please could someone help?
Hi Karen: just want to be sure I’m understanding you correctly here. I tried replicating this with an event running Tue-Sat every week for 3 months (so a recurring event). On the upcoming events list it doesn’t show every day separately, rather it groups them in this fashion:
- 18 Dec 12 – 22 Dec 12
- 25 Dec 12 – 29 Dec 12
- 01 Jan 13 – 05 Jan 13
- …

I can replicate what you are suggesting which is better than I had managed but when you view the list of events I still have 13 (weekly) listings for a three month exhibition, which is all actually the same event. As I have many exhibtions which run the whole summer and one for over 6 months the list is just full of the same events repeated and therefore not looking every professional. Is their another way to improve this sort of listing?I don’t know of any perfect solutions that are out there, off the top of my head. There are one or two threads here on the Pro forum where we looked at a system of checking if an event was recurring then listing the recurring dates discreetly underneath the main event (or even hiding them altogether).
The downside was that, particularly on a site with a full and busy calendar, pagination on the upcoming events list was affected and the number of results per page was potentially inconsistent.
Probably the best solution here is to build a custom view and create your own logic for retrieving and paginating results that meets your precise requirements.
With The Events Calendar 3.0 on the horizon, I’d also be wary of committing time to something that might not work or may be unnecessary when that version arrives.
