The Events Calendar uses WordPress settings to determine which day is the start of the week, the default timezone, as well as the way dates and times are formatted. All of these settings are located in Settings → General from the WordPress dashboard.

WordPress General Settings
  1. Select your timezone
  2. Select or customize the date format.
  3. Select your preferred Time Format (WordPress guide)
  4. Select the first day of the week. The default WordPress setting is Monday.

Using different date and time formats

The Events Calendar allows you to override the WordPress settings by configuring the date and time settings directly in the plugin settings. This way, you can set the options for your site one way and the options for your calendar another way.

Navigate to Events → Settings, click on the “Display” tab, then scroll down to the “Date Format Settings” section to configure these settings just for the calendar.

Date with year: The format for a date when the year is included (e.g. January 29, 2021).

Date without year: The format for a date when the year is not included (e.g. January 29). This is commonly used on events in the current year.

Month and year format: The format when just the month and year are displayed (e.g. January 2021).

Week day format: The format when the day of the week and date number are displayed in Event Calendar Pro’s week view.

Date time separator: This specifies how to separate the date and time of an event when they are displayed together (e.g. Jan. 21 @ 8:00 p.m.).

Compact Date Format: The format for displaying dates in a compact space (e.g. 1/21/2021). This is used in datepickers, including the ones used in the event editor when creating an event.
