ParticipantAha! very interesting! I didn’t realise there was supposed to be a drop-down for the ‘View As’ and posted a query on the Community Events forum about why I couldn’t see all the options until I clicked the box. The answer I got didn’t make a lot of sense and now I understand why!
We’ve just disabled W3 as it was creating all sorts of problems, but the ‘View As’ drop-down still doesn’t display, although I did just see it briefly as the page loaded so obviously something else on our site is in conflict with ECP as well. Oh well …

ParticipantHi Casey, looks like it was the W3C cache plugin, same one causing problems with the Anonymous submission issue. Thanks for your help.

ParticipantThanks Casey, that worked. It also fixed the back-to-front log-in I was experiencing and the redirection to the profile page I mentioned in another question.

ParticipantCheers Barry, I’ve posted in UserVoice. I did notice that others had mentioned the same thing so it’s not just me!

ParticipantOK, I did some more research and found a snippet of code which I added to functions.php in the theme to force WP to crop the “medium” (default 300×300 in our case) size image when an image is uploaded. This certainly works and a cropped, un-squashed image now appears both in the media library and on an Event listing.
Could you confirm or otherwise that this is the correct approach for creating the images required for your plugin when our Organisers create an event with an image?
Thanks
Simon

ParticipantThanks Barry – the calendar using your plugin is not connected to the nav yet as we are not finished setting it up. It’s here http://whanganuinz.com/events
It seems to me that if you’re already in (say) month view, it would be useful to have the other choices (photo and list) showing as options without having to click the box to make them appear. Most users, I reckon, wouldn’t think to click the box because it’s not obvious that doing so would reveal more options.
I’ll post in the UserVoice page as well.

ParticipantHi Julie
I did that and yes, it made the thumbnail look better in the media library. But ECP is not using the thumbnail image in the events I create – it’s using the 300×300 image which WP generates. Where is it told to use that 300×300 image?
The issue we have is that we have dozens and dozens of Organisers so we need an idiot-proof method of them uploading images for their events without them (or us!) having to go anywhere near the WP admin. Does that make sense? If it does, do you have a solution? Am I barking up the wrong tree?
Thanks
Simon

ParticipantOK, I figured out that WP creates the squashed 300×300 image as it is uploaded. And I learned that with a bit of extra code I can get WP to create other size images and to crop them on upload as well. So I guess I need to know whereabouts Event Calendar Pro is told to use a particular image on the event List and Photo views and on the single listing itself. Thanks.
