ParticipantThank you George.
I’ve deleted the entries in the child table associated with the run-away event.
The calendar is working properly again and the problem appears to have been resolved.

ParticipantGeorge,
I was finally able to find and delete the posts using criteria similar to this: WHERE
post_type= ‘tribe_events’ andpost_title= ‘title_of_events_to_be_deleted’.I assume that any associated child table entries were deleted with a cascading delete. Please let me know if that is not true.
Also, there are some additional obsolete events I’d like to delete but I don’t see where the event date is stored. Can you provide a simple data diagram to help me find those events so I can clean those up as well?

ParticipantGeorge,
1) Thanks. I still would like to get this fixed but if it becomes hopeless, I will request that refund.
2) I have selected the first event that remains but there were others with the same date that had previously been deleted in earlier clean-up attempts. Interestingly, the Edit all option is not available for the first of the remaining recurring events – only Edit. I also tried the very last event because I noticed it had the Edit all option but that didn’t work either.
3) Yes, the first URL is http://www.xyz.org/wp-admin/post.php?post=8992&action=edit and then I get a 404 with the URL I posted before for the first event and a 404 with http://www.xyz.org/wp-admin/post.php?post=8992&action=edit&recurrence_rebuild=5553f85212 when I tried to rebuild the recurring events by clicking the metabox for the last of the 17,051 instances.
I have also tried to get a tree view and then delete them all by sending them to trash but I still have 18,636 events.
I’m not sure why there isn’t a way using sql or ftp to delete the entire calendar and start over.

ParticipantI was able to re-install the Events Calendar Pro plug-in and was able to click on the elusive metabox.
I still keep getting 404s
I changed the site’s “Cleanup Recurring Events Before” option to 1 months and the “Cleanup Recurring Events After” option also to 1 month.
The events are down to 18,747 events now but there it stays even 3 hours later.
Every time I tried an Edit all on any one of the events, I get a 404 (http://www.xyz.org/wp-admin/post.php?post=8992&action=edit&recurrence_rebuild=0b21b6fc84).

ParticipantGeorge,
My preference would be to get this resolved.
This morning when I first looked, the total was 19,113 and over an hour later the total was at 18,808 and that is where it stands.
Even though I re-installed the Events calendar, Community Events and the latest fix you provided, I don’t see the metabox or the clean-up options you referred to anymore. This might be because I wasn’t able to re-install the Events Calendar Pro plug-in because my account only has the license for Community Events (another individual in our organization has the Pro license and he is on vacation).
I would ask for help from the host but I don’t know exactly what to tell them.
I tried to fix it myself but could not find the events in any sql database or on the ftp server.
If you were to give me the instructions, maybe I could delete the calendar and start again.

ParticipantI waited several hours and was finally able to run the process using the metabox.
After a few more hours, the events are only down to 18,808.
I deleted all the plug-ins but apparently, there is no clean-up because when I re-installed, there are still 18,808 events.
I have been working on this for over a week and now I seem to have no choice but to use different plug-ins for my calendar function.
We recently renewed our Events Calendar Pro by Modern Tribe license and I’d like a refund.
I know you tried to help but this just isn’t working.

ParticipantI installed and activated the plug-in after deleting the prior fix and I still don’t see the metabox you referenced.
After 10 minutes, I am still getting this message:
Recurring event data is still being generated for this event. Don’t worry, you can safely navigate away – the process will resume in a bit in the background.
If I delete all the Events Calendar plug-ins will that delete all the events?
I don’t mind starting from scratch.

ParticipantIt sounds like you would be able to help me delete all the events.
I would like to take you up on that. What are the next steps to get the database cleared out?
I am an administrator for our domain on the host.

ParticipantI believe that the volume of calendar entries is making the site somewhat unstable (I’m still getting 404 and internal server errors). What is the best way to delete all the events and start from scratch?

ParticipantThanks for the information George.
I downloaded and activated the plug-in but 24 hours later, the total number of events is still 20,500.
I am concerned that the process may have stopped deleting events – or at least it is running too slowly.
Anything else you can advise at this point?

ParticipantIt is possible that the new release fixed the issue going forward but I’d like to delete the extra events that seem to be slowing down the site and causing errors to be generated (mostly 404s) when I try to delete them – or even try to view a list of the events.
I couldn’t find a way to delete them with a mass delete plug-in (I tried WP Mass Delete) or using php Admin of the WebCalendar Database.
Is a full restore of the website the only way to recover from this?

ParticipantHi George,
I didn’t need to modify the ‘redirect url’ to succeed in the anonymous submission.
The search feature is now working again.
In between, I had another error that seemed to be resolved by following the advice I found on another post:
5. Try setting your permalinks to ‘postname’ in Settings > Permalinks
6. Try refreshing your permalinks by visiting Settings > Permalinks (it does it automatically)I didn’t go through the process of ‘testing for conflicts’ since this is a live site and no test site is currently available.
Hopefully, these problems will not return.
Thanks for your help George.
Jeff Rose
ParticipantOddly enough, before I made any changes, I tried it again and was able to submit an event anonymously. However, when I logged in to delete the event, the search function did not return the event with the text of ‘test’. Instead, I received a 404 page not found error.
