If you have a recurring event say like Christmas, and you type in http://www.url.com/event/christmas/ it will 301 forward you to the url of the next recurring “Christmas” so it would actually go to http://www.url.com/event/christmas/2013-12-25/ . There is no way to just go to http://www.url.com/event/christmas/. In the older version you could go to just the main recurring url without the attached date on it, but you can’t in this version.

Is it possible that it’s not supposed to do that? That would solve a few issues for me.

    Thanks again.

Thank you for your reply. So there is no way whatsoever to remove the automatic 301 to a dated page? Can you tell me where in the script the 301 is happening and where the date is being added. Last version it was a simple “addeventdate” call that was removed. Now it seems to not be working.

Is there anything else I can do? I realize this was a big update, but losing pages is a huge issue.
    Thanks again for your help.

Yes, there was help on the forums last year about removing the date from the end of the event links so they all went to one “main” page and I did that. Now all links are pointing to individual event date pages and I am getting 301’s from my original links to these new links.

Anyway to stop the forced 301 so the links can just go directly to a single page for the event? It does it for non-recurring events, so is there a way to do this for recurring events?

I have an older copy of 2-something. What version is the newest version that I could downgrade to and still have the old features.

I love the new version, it’s got lots of upgrades, but the multiple 301’s to dated pages makes this a SEO nightmare.

Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

    Just an update:

I actually tried to roll back to use my previous version since I did not want to have a zillion url’s for holidays that should only have one link, but when I did I seemed to lose a bunch of my events on the front end. They looked like they were still available in the admin, but they did not show up on the calendar.

The script is forcing all links to a date link and as mentioned above and I can’t seem to find a way to stop it. I just want clean simple links to holidays/events that are yearly. Don’t need a “Dated event page” for each year. Is there any filter to use or a way to roll back without losing my events?

    Thanks.
