Hi Neill – I’ve posted the amended twentytwelve functions.php file to pastebin here: http://pastebin.com/AWtru7MN (I’d tried adding the suggested code at the end of the functions file as well, but it didn’t appear to make a difference).

Hi Neill – adding this to the theme’s functions.php (both TwentyTwelve and our own) doesn’t have any effect.

I tried setting up a fresh installation of WP with the three plugins and imported our events into it, and that version didn’t have this display problem, so I’m prepared to believe it is specific to our site 🙂

One thing that I noticed with the fresh installation is that the database for the basic WP installation uses InnoDB, whereas the databases for our existing site and the crashtest site is MyISAM (in both cases the WP E-Commerce tables are MyISAM). Would this be enough to cause the SQL error you mentioned?

If it’s an underlying problem with our installation, I’d rather address that than using a workaround (as it would seem liable to recur), but I don’t have any idea where to start with pinning down the problem.

Thanks Neill – unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to have any effect?

(I don’t know if this is connected, but when I deactivated WP E-Commerce to see if re-activating it with the edit would make a difference, I noticed that the events list, although displaying in the correct order, was displaying recurring events from October…)

Hi Kelly – I hadn’t seen the last reply (didn’t get an email update for some reason?).

I suspect I’ll need more specific instructions than ‘somewhere after’?

Hi Neill – your reply is marked private, so I can’t read it – was it intended for me or is it internal?

Hi Barry – your first suggestion seems to be working (I’m not able to test it on our live site until the other problem’s resolved, but it worked on the copy). The VenueLat and VenueLng were already completely missing, so I only had to delete the _VenueGeoAddress – at that point, re-saving the record created all three meta entries.

Thanks for your help sorting this.

Hi Barry – the list below the map view only includes the events at the locations being mapped (I assume it works out what to map first, then lists the relevant events, rather than listing all the upcoming events first, then creating the map).

If you look at the month view, you’ll see more events, and they all have a venue. Most of those events are at our own location (‘GWL in Landressy St’ http://crashtest.womenslibrary.org.uk/venue/gwl-in-landressy-street/ ), which currently isn’t appearing in the map view. I think the only upcoming event we currently have that isn’t mapping is in Dumbarton (‘Concorde Community Centre’ http://crashtest.womenslibrary.org.uk/venue/concorde-community-centre/ ), but we have a lot of venues already in the system that will be reused in the future. When I checked the source of the issue after the 3.1 update, I discovered that about half of those existing events where missing VenueLat and VenueLng – the only locations that displayed correctly, rather than at 0,0, were the same as now (Aberdeen, Clydebank and one Glasgow location). For example, when I first attempted the 3.2 update last week, we had an event in Oban which was not being mapped.

I’ve set up a copy of our site with every plugin except the events calendar, ECPro and the WP E-Commerce site deactivated, and the TwentyTwelve theme instead of our custom theme, and the problem of upcoming events displaying incorrectly in the List, Day and Picture views persists. It occurs both in the main events page when switch the view, and when using links like the ‘View All N’ events on the month view. I’ve also noticed problems with recurring events displaying weirdly – either link to the first event instead of the one that should have been linked to, or displaying ‘This event has passed’, or not displaying all the recurring events when asked.

Hi Barry – I had to revert to version 3.1 due to the other issues the 3.2 update was causing (https://tri.be/support/forums/topic/conflict-between-3-2-and-wp-e-commerce/), so the map isn’t enabled. I’ve set up a copy of our site with every plugin except the events calendar, ECPro and the WP E-Commerce site deactivated, and the TwentyTwelve theme instead of our custom theme.

I’ve left WP E-commerce installed that on as it’s the cause of the other problem we’re having, but I checked the plugin on the test site with WP E-Commerce deactivated, and the problem with missing venues persists.

I’ve reverted our live site to v3.1 – if you let me know what I should be looking for in the test site that’s still running 3.2 with this conflict, I can see if I can pin down the problem.

Hi there – it really doesn’t seem to be a theme issue. I’ve tried it with both TwentyTwelve and TwentyEleven, and the problem still happens. I’ve also tried updating our offline version (which, admittedly, I should have done before updating the live site), and it has the same problem, displaying a random selection of past events in the List, Picture and Day views.

You’re right, it does seem to display correctly when browsing back as well as when using the next/previous links, but unfortunately that’s not how people use the site – if they see the incorrect information, they’re not likely to go into past events, and they’ll be discouraged or assume that we’ve not updated the website since September, neither of which is something we want happening.

I know that there was a conflict between WP E-commerce and WordPress’s pagination, but I turned the WP E-commerce pagination off when I realised that was screwing up our post archives, so it shouldn’t still be causing problems?

I’m not sure what else I can do to ‘test’ the setup? Turning everything else off only shows me the same results, and the debug mode in Events Calendar doesn’t seem to be logging anything.

Okay – I’ll keep an eye out for updates.
