It’s the theme. When I change themes to Twenty Twelve BAM! the calendar is just fine. The categories are fine. The breadcrumbs are fine.

Right now I have breadcrumbs disabled in the theme framework because they are not right for the event calendar and I didn’t have the patience or time to fiddle with it.

The breadcrumbs in this particular theme leave out the category. For category I end up with the pattern domain/events/category/category-name in the URL but the breadcrumbs show Home > Event Name If you look at the event itself the breadcrumbs display as Home > > Event Name with a null in the middle space where I would expect the category to be.

    Hi Barry.

Sorry for the delay on my end in responding. The problem was viewable from the front end in your browser. The page title displayed on the tab of the browser was still the title of the event rather than the title of the page. It displayed something like “Fun Event 2013” on the tab rather than “Event Calendar”.

However, since I posted I was able to get this resolved with the help of a WP coding guru friend of mine. The theme caused a great deal of problems and we ended up creating new header, page and functions files for the child of the theme in order to make the theme behave properly.

On the subject of titles, however, I’m wondering about titles on pages for a specific event category. I searched to see if there was anything on the subject, but could not find anything. I want the page title to be dynamic – if it’s a category within the event calendar, I would expect that to be the page title – otherwise, how will a user know that they are on a different view? (example – 2013 Home Bouts, 2013 Away Bouts, Events, etc)
