Correct. The events are currently in order because I have fiddled with the times (Start time 8:55, 9:00, 9:05, etc) to make them so. However, I just entered an all day event in October which is now listing first. The problem is with all day events but also with events that start later in the day, for example, I just changed the Roll-2-Roll event which is on June 29th to start 10am (which is actually the correct starting time) and now it is listing last event after a Feb 2016 event! So all I can gather is that the hour/minute takes priority over the date in the sorting.
