Wrong naming for exported .po/.mo-files

Hi Leah,

when exporting the .po/mo. files from http://translations.theeventscalendar.com the names of the exported files are wrong:

TEC:
Should be: the-events-calendar-de_DE.po/mo
But is: the-events-calendar-de.po/mo (_DE missing)

TEC Pro:
Should be: tribe-events-calendar-pro-de_DE.po/mo
But is: the-events-calendar-prode.po/mo (the instead of tribe)

Maybe you can correct this? Would be very helpful.

Hi Again,

The Translation site for TEC is now run by WordPress here:

https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/the-events-calendar/stable

Although it appears they have a default filename of:

wp-plugins-the-events-calendar-stable-de.po

We are looking into whether that can be changed, but we do not run the WordPress GlotPress so we are not sure yet.

As for Pro I am getting the same issue and looking into it. Thanks for bring it up.

Ok for Pro you should be good on the translation file export name.

We are trying to figure out The Events Calendar and if it can be changed or not.

for both TEC and TEC Pro the naming changed, but is still wrong:

TEC:
Should be: the-events-calendar-de_DE.po/mo
But is: wp-plugins-the-events-calendar-stable-de.po (plus _DE missing)

TEC Pro:
Should be: tribe-events-calendar-pro-de_DE.po/mo
But is: the-events-calendar-pro-de_DE.mo

Hi,

Pro should be fixed now. I just tested it.

We have no control over The Events Calendar translation on WordPress.org and so far not been able to get a hold of anyone to change that download name.

For now the downloaded translation file will have to be changed by you until we can see if even possible to get it changed.

Sorry for the inconvenience. The team is aware of this and when we reevaluate if we want to continue using WordPress.org for the translation and this information is something we will take into account.

thanks for the fast reaction and the change of TEC Pro – works fine now 🙂
For TEC: Maybe you can bring up a CR for wordpress.org that it’s configurable to change the name of the po/mo-file?

When we release a new version of the plugin the file names will be correct or we will fix that.

If someone manually downloads it for now they are going to have to change the filename.

To many things are up in the air about the translation system on .org for us to want to make changes right now.

Again this is something for us to consider if we want to stick with this system or take it back over when we reevaluate it.

I think the new translation system is fine and I would recommend to stay with it. The wrong naming isn’t a big issue.

Ok sounds good. I do not think it would be a reason to leave it in itself, but just a point to consider.
