WPML Issue – French Translation Half Translated

Using WPML to translate the rest of the site, I’m having trouble translating The Events Calendar in French, as the site I’m working on is bilingual.

Is there a solution for this, so it’s fully translated and not saying “VView All Événements” on the French side. And the date is also not correct, stating “JUILLET 31 @ 10:30 – AOÛT 1 @ 2:00” in French. The date should be before the month.

It also doesn’t display the events on the French side at all.

If it can’t be translated because of WPML, it there a way to display it correctly on the French side anyways? I have no problem displaying the events in English for English and French, but it can’t be half-half.

Hi Kim,

With regards to the date formats first of all these can actually be configured via the Events → Settings → Display admin screen – you can set them to any format you desire 🙂

If there are mistakes in the French translation (or pieces of text that haven’t been translated) I would encourage you to help out at translations.theeventscalendar.com and submit your corrections and additions there.

There are a number of compatibility issues with WPML – so if some of the problems occur only when that plugin is also activated, that may well be part of the problem (ie, a plugin conflict).

The translation for “View All Events” still only half translates and it’s correct in the file.

The French translation that ships with the current release of The Events Calendar does not include this translation, though it has been translated over here:

Did you download the updated translations file from that site? What is the filename if so (you may need to rename it).

So, I figured it out by copying over the English content, and only translating what needs to be in French, sorta fixed it.

I still have to manually modify some of them though as they are not translated correctly.

I’m glad you are able to workaround this – we are aware of a few areas where we’ve fallen short and hopefully, with the help of the community, we’ll be able to improve in this area shortly.
