ParticipantI have an address (detail added in a private reply), and Google is just plain wrong about where it’s physically located.
The question is; is there a way we can leave the address as is, and change the map location?
We have Lat/Long, and even searching by address on google maps takes us to the wrong place.November 28, 2013 at 8:29 am #79157Barry
MemberRight now I’m afraid we can’t do a great deal to help with this; one possibility is manually editing the longitude and latitude values in the database but you’d need to be aware of the potential for these to be overwritten when updating the event/venue in the future.

ParticipantIf the degrees are stored in the database, would it be possible to have a spot for them in the admin side?
Google maps link: [Find automatically] | [Specify manually]
Since the embed code is just a re-formed maps link, this could solve both at once in an easy-to-understand way.

MemberYes it’s possible and it’s something others have suggested – please do feel free to add your voice over on our UserVoice page, either to a suitable existing request or to a new one.

ParticipantMoved the discussion there.
Can you point us towards the database entry that holds the coordinates?
After that, this thread is closed; thanks!

ParticipantFor future reference, I found it:
In the wp_postemeta table the columns are “_VenueLat” and “_VenueLng”
Of course, these are tied to the post_id of the venueNovember 29, 2013 at 8:45 am #79302gatewaydevelopment
ParticipantI spoke too soon:
Besides not changing the google maps link, changing those values does not actually modify the map for us.
Even after updating the table, flushing all caches, flushing CDN for that page, disabling W3TC altogether, and verifying the database changes were still there at the end, changing _VenueLat and _VenueLng made no difference at all.It feels like the plugin is pulling the map based on the address every time.

MemberTo be clear, which map are you referring to – the main map as shown on map view, or on other pages (single event/venue)?
November 29, 2013 at 10:17 am #79323gatewaydevelopment
ParticipantSingle Event and Single venue both:
/event/event-name/
/venue/venue-name/December 2, 2013 at 7:40 am #79531Barry
MemberYes you’re absolutely right, sorry for the confusion.
Within those views the address is indeed passed to Google (whereas map view itself uses the coordinates). It should definitely be consistent and it seems sensible that we use coordinates for both – so I’ll make sure this is logged as an area in need of attention.

MemberHi there,
I just wanted to pop in here with a quick update. Although we were not able to get a fix for this into our imminent 3.3 release, it is still on the radar for inclusion in a future build. Thanks for your patience!
