ParticipantHi
i’ve just set up a new wordpress website (www.pluckmag.org)
last version of wordpress (3.4.1)
theme : mantra
plugins : the events calendar + community events + akismet, jetpack, sociable, theme test drive, etc.
Since i’ve downloaded and activated community events, there is a line of code which has appeared on my website :
WARNING : creating default object from empty value in /xxx/community events class php line 346
and i’ve notice few errors :
– when users submit an event, the category is not saved when I read the event in my administration page
– and the size of the image is strange
I don’t know if everything is linked or not so if you can help me, that would be very appreciated
Your plug ins are awesome !August 5, 2012 at 9:21 pm #23269Joyce Grace
MemberHello Julie,
To get us started can you please ensure you have done all of the following?
1. Are you running the latest version of WordPress? (I see you are)
2. Are you running the latest versions of our plugins (2.0.8)?
3. Have you tried deactivating all other plugins to rule out a conflict?
4. Have you tried reverting to the Twenty Eleven theme to see if it’s something with your theme?
5. Try setting your permalinks to ‘postname’ in Settings > Permalinks?
6. Try refreshing your permalinks by visiting Settings > Permalinks (it does it automatically)?
7. Try increasing the PHP memory for your website: http://www.dailyblogging.org/wordpress/increase-wordpress-memory-limit/?August 6, 2012 at 8:28 am #23291julie
ParticipantHi Joyce,
1/Yes as you saw
2/ yes, the events calendar 2.0.8 and the events calendra : community events 1.0.2 (i’ve downloaded everything yesterday)
3/yesn i’ve just did it. i deactivated everything, except the events calendar+ community, nothing has changed
4/yes, i did it with theme test drive and nothing changes.
5/ yes, a new line of code appears on the event form : Warning: Creating default object from empty value in /homez.169/pluckmag/www/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar-community-events/lib/tribe-community-events.class.php on line 2052 (http://www.pluckmag.org/events/community/add)
6/ When i go back to the default permalinks, the line of code in the add form disappears, but the line of code is still in the front page
7/ no, i’m not a specialist of code.
I opened the class.php file with text wrangler and line 346 there is this :
$current_screen->post_type = TribeEvents::POSTTYPE;August 7, 2012 at 9:07 pm #23397Joyce Grace
MemberHello Julie, I am very perplexed by this.
I need you try the plugins on the latest version of the Twenty Eleven theme, not anything else. The Twenty Eleven theme is the latest in WordPress standards and is the litmus test to show us if the problem is theme related or not. It will help us narrow down the issue.
For number 7, it is really easy – if you click on the link there are instruction in that article that tell you exactly what to do.
Can you set your permalinks to “postname”?
Can you also confirm you did everything in this new user primer to set up your plugins? https://theeventscalendar.com/support/documentation/community-events-new-user-primer/
Is your license for sure activated?
Thanks!
Regarding the categories not saving – this should be fixed, and if it is not now it should be fixed in the next release of the community events plugin, which we release at the beginning of every month, so hopefully soon.
When you say the image size is “strange” can you be more specific? Can you show me what you mean?

ParticipantHi Joyce,
I tried the plugins with the latest version of twenty eleven and the line of code only appears when I activate the community events plugin.
It is the same with my theme (Mantra). I desactivated the community events plugin and the line of code has disappeared.
I set up my permanlinks to “postname”, I increased the memory of my php, and my license is activatedAnd for the image size, when people read the event on a page (just the event) the image linked to it is sized more like a header image : very large. I want to have the images sized like the original (most of the time pictures of bands, posters to announce gigs)
you can see an example of how it looks like http://www.pluckmag.org/event/ukulele-hooley-3/
Do you think I should try to download community events again and proceed to a new set up of the plugin ?

MemberHi Julie,
I am very sorry you’re having this issue. I have never heard of it before and I can’t see any other forum posts about it with any clues to help us. Can you please write me an email at pro /at/ tri.be with your login credentials to your site? But please also give me permission to access your site in your e-mail to me, since we can’t be responsible in case anything happens. I won’t change anything on your site, but I do need to look around. If necessary I may need to get another developer involved. Thanks!

ParticipantHi Joyce,
sorry for not responding before but I got to go back to work !
ok i send you a mail.
thanksAugust 17, 2012 at 10:39 pm #23782Joyce Grace
MemberHello Julie,
I had a look at your site, and it is all in French – so it is very hard for me troubleshoot. Are you able to change it to English for me? You can set your language in your wp-config file.
When this happens I can get higher level support to help us out.
I think you also have a good idea – I would try to deactivate and then re-activate the plugin to see if that helps. And if that doesn’t, try deleting it and re-installing it. This is very strange behaviour – I am perplexed by it 🙁

MemberRegarding your image, that is the feature image size of your theme, so you need to change that in your theme settings or CSS somehow.

ParticipantHi Joyce,
just to tell you that I’ve done the upgrade of the 2 plugins (the events calendar and community) and have updated my theme on wordpress. Good news : the line of code now only appears on the page “submit an event”.September 25, 2012 at 3:12 pm #25714Rob
MemberHi there Julie. Thanks for the follow-up on this, and my apologies on behalf of the whole team for our failure to get you a response since 9/12. Just as a heads up…Joyce is unfortunately no longer with us, but I’m happy to take point on this and get it resolved for you.
Can you confirm that you’ve updated to The Events Calendar 2.0.9 and Community Events 1.0.3, and find this issue persists from there? Want to make sure we’re on the same page here before I get a dev to take a look. Thanks in advance.
