The drop-down for the View As menu is broken, as shown here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wjm03f416dt6c88/Screenshot%202014-02-17%2013.16.32.png

Last time this happened, we found there was a conflict between W3’s JS minification and Events Calendar, and it was disabled.

Now, with the update from 3.3 to 3.4 and 3.4.1, the view as menu is broken again even though minification is disabled.

Note: Disabling W3 altogether does bring the menu back the way it should be, however this is of course an unacceptable answer

    What are the next steps?

Aha! very interesting! I didn’t realise there was supposed to be a drop-down for the ‘View As’ and posted a query on the Community Events forum about why I couldn’t see all the options until I clicked the box. The answer I got didn’t make a lot of sense and now I understand why!

We’ve just disabled W3 as it was creating all sorts of problems, but the ‘View As’ drop-down still doesn’t display, although I did just see it briefly as the page loaded so obviously something else on our site is in conflict with ECP as well. Oh well …

@wanganuiedc – it’s probably a different problem in your case then. Can I ask you to post a new thread of your own? One of the team will be only too happy to help.

    @gatewaydevelopment
    – when I visit the URL you shared (when you opened this thread) and navigate to the main events page the view selector appears to function as expected. Can you clarify if you have since resolved this or provide further details to help me see the problem in situ?

    Thanks!

@Barry I checked in Chrome through an Incognito window, and also in Safari; both show the same “unstyled” drop-down box as in the pic I posted; it also doesn’t work, nor does the event pop-over show.

In the browser inspector, I get errors in two files:
    http://cdn.ourhost.ca/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/resources/tribe-events.min.js?ver=3.4.1
Error: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot set property ‘en’ of undefined

    http://cdn.ourhost.ca/wp-content/plugins/events-calendar-pro/resources/tribe-events-pro.min.js?ver=3.4
Error: Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method ‘pro_tooltips’ of undefined

And, for the sake of thoroughness, I freshly purged both files while making this post and retested; still the same issue.

So at this point can you clarify the URL for the main events page?

Is it hosted at cdn.ourhost.ca? If so, please do note that I cannot access that URL. If it is in fact at the URL posted when you opened the thread, which I can access, then I cannot see this problem either in Firefox or Chrome (and my colleague cannot see it either – and additionally tested it out in Safari).

    Let me know!

After my reply, I tested this through tools.pingdom.com (reviewing the screenshot), and something seemed fishy, so I tried another computer in the house. The page does show correctly there, so I’m marking this as resolved and now glaring at both Safari and Chrome’s incognito window.

Unfortunately since the testing is retroactively suspect, I can’t pin down what fixed it.

Thanks for asking questions that brought clarity.

No problem – I’ll close this thread but if it crops up again or there is anything else we can help with please don’t hesitate to create new threads as needed. Thanks!
