Viewing events by category does not work in map view when using a _GET variable

Hello,

I created a system to filter by event type and language based on event categories. This system uses _GET variables in the url along with a session to figure out which category to go to. When the _GET variable is used with a category in list view everything works correctly and only shows events is that category. http://www.summitlighthouse.org/events-search/category/archangels/?event=archangels

The problem comes up when we do the same thing in map view. What happens is that instead of showing just events in the current category it shows all events. http://summitltest.wpengine.com/events-search/category/archangels/?event=archangels

When you take away the _GET variable then it works again. http://summitltest.wpengine.com/events-search/category/archangels/

I realize that this problem is somewhat ridiculous and very specific but we would like to use map view and currently don’t have any other solution for filtering by event type and language so this has become a problem for us and we are hoping that you can help us find a solution.

I apologize for any inconvenience you’re experiencing when using our plugin. Unfortunately, there isn’t too much support that I can offer in regards to this type of functionality.

One thing you could check out would be our Filter Bar plugin which sounds like it offers the exact functionality that you’re looking for and attempting to recreate. For example, when using this plugin on the map view, I’m able to show events of a specific category by using the following url “/events/map/?tribe_eventcategory=6”. This URL is what is generated when selecting the associated category from the Filter Bar.

I’m sorry I wasn’t able to give you a direct response however I hope this was able to point you in the right direction.
