    Reproduce:
    1) Dashboard > Events > Settings
    2) Click Defaults tab
    3) Check “Automatically replace empty fields with default values”
    4) Default State: Select California
    5) Save
    6) Venues > Add New
    7) State drop down shows “Select State”

    Setup: WordPress 3.4.2 | The Events Calendar 2.0.10 | Events Calendar Pro 2.0.10 | Thematic (child theme) 1.0.3.2 | PHP 5.3.18 | Apache

    Plugins: I have the following plugins active:
    Add From Server
    Advanced Custom Fields
    AJAX Thumbnail Rebuild
    BackWPUp
    Relevanssi
    TEC, TEC Pro.

    Just deactivated all plugins, and switched theme to 2011, problem persists.

    No worries, not a deal-breaker for me. I noticed that where the default values actually do work is when adding a new event. I don’t remember anything in the settings explicitly saying “This will only work when creating a new event”, but it may be there and I just missed it. 🙂

    No that’s a good catch – after all the default country is selected, so it’s not unreasonable to expect the province/state to also be populated. I’ll log it as a bug, thanks.
