ParticipantI basically installed my current version Oct. Last year and haven’t touched it since. Is there anything special I need to do or is it a simple uninstall re-install deal?
Thanks.November 3, 2011 at 10:58 am #10534JD
MemberI have the same question. We currently have 1.3.2 and I can’t seem to find anywhere on this site to tell how to upgrade. I would like to keep all of our data and not break our layouts.
The folder the plugin currently resides in is events-calendar-premium and the new new (2.x) plugin is events-calendar-pro. Do I:
1.) Replace the contents of events-calendar-premium with the contents of events-calendar-pro?
2.) Install the new plugin alongside the old one? If so, how do we migrate the data?November 3, 2011 at 4:13 pm #10549Rob
MemberProbably best to upgrade to the latest stable 1.x release (1.3.3) before attempting the upgrade. If you need it, email me (rob at tri.be) and I’ll get you the code.
From there, all you need to do is deactivate the old; activate the new; and your events will be automatically converted. No need to modify any other files on your server unless you customized the 1.x code previously. If you were just using the out-of-the-box install though, the migration is automatic.
Let me know if you have any other questions on this and I’d be happy to help.

ParticipantSuzanne,
Rob’s suggestion worked nice. My setup was similar to yours and I used these steps for migrating 1.3.2 to 2.0.1:
– first, always backup your database
– deactive Events Calendar Pro 1.2
– install and activate The Events Calendar free version
– install and activate Events Calendar 2.0.1
– goto setting and add your licenseAfter the install, there is a new events-calendar-pro plugin directory. I’m unsure if the old 1.2 events-calendar-premium directory is still needed or whether it can be safely deleted. The admin plugin list also shows the old ECP 1.2 – that might be another way to remove. Rob, can you verify what is the safest method to purge the old version?
Thank you.

MemberHey Andrew. You should backup first, but it’s generally fine to delete the 1.2 build after you’ve upgraded / migrated to the 2.0 release. Personally I just keep the older versions on my plugin list but deactivated in case I ever need to access them again; but if you’re not concerned with that, just deleting (either via FTP or straight from the backend of the site) should work fine.
