Hello, here are my problems at the following site http://hubsaltlake.com:
    1. Widget links, bottom center of footer do not link to anywhere
    2. Events page link in nav is not going to active state
    3. On single page event view both Event link and Blog link are highlighted.
No core files have been altered.
All of this happened last night when we installed Eventbrite ticket plugin. Our Event Calendar plugin was updated at the same time since we are showing 3.0 (I was not anticipating this).
Eager to hear back. If we need to upgrade to pro version, happy to do it. Especially if it gets us quick support to fix this issue.
Also, please visit the following page to see error output: http://hubsaltlake.com/event/hub-salt-lake-space-tour-9/

Note that on a local copy of our site I have disabled all plugins, activated twenty eleven theme, activated 2012 theme, re-activated the Roots theme that we are using, I’ve changed themes in calendar settings…. I think I have exhausted all possible combinations of “turn this on or turn that off”. In some wp theme / events cal. theme combos I have had a blog post show below our events calendar. Also, in one instance the events links in footer were sending me to home page.

Please help. I think I’ll revert to the old plugin since it worked but we like the upgraded styles in 3.0. The last thing I am going to do is setup a fresh wordpress install on local machine and install new calendar plugin to test.

    Thanks! Desperately need this fixed.

I disabled wp debug so the above link will not show error output. Here is the error text: Notice: Trying to get property of non-object in /home/content/48/10736248/html/wp-includes/link-template.php on line 248
    class=”single single-tribe_events postid-279 logged-in tribe-filter-live ?page_id=-9999 events-single singular”>

I setup a fresh install of WordPress locally.
Left default twenty twelve theme in place.
Installed only the Events Calendar 3.0 plugin.
    Added Events page.
    Changed permalink structure to postname.
Checked front end. Event text in navigation is not going bold / not going into an active state.
    Added Home and Blog pages.
    Set these as Static pages.
    Added two dummy events.
Added events widget to home page.
Viewed home page. Clicked event headings in widget. Nothing happens. Stays on home page.
Click events nav link. Takes me to calendar successfully but does not throw Event link into active state.
Upload and change theme to Roots theme.
Now when clicking Events link in main nav the Blog link goes into active state.
I’ve tried re-saving permalinks along with other things and nothing works. I feel I have proved that there is an issue with bare bones wordpress + this plugin, along with certain permalink and static page configs…
Hope to hear from you soon.

I am having the same problem on the site http://getmonetizednow.com/events/ when we go to that page, it’s just showing blog posts…. this is a big issue, as we are just trying to launch this page.

Is there a way to manually override?

Will someone acknowledge this support request please? Would just like to either know if anyone has deemed it worthy of replying to or not. Just so I know where I stand and if I will be on my own with this one. Having replicated at least a portion of my issue on a 2012 theme without any customization or plugins other than the Events Calendar tells me that something needs changed on your end. Am I wrong?

    Hi hubsaltlake,

I’m very sorry that we missed this. We’ve had exceptionally high demand for support and unfortunately this thread fell through the cracks. This absolutely isn’t the norm and we do strive to answer every thread within 24hrs of it being posted (weekends excepted).

Clearly that didn’t happen here – but hopefully we can now assist with your problem and get things on track. Please bear with me a little longer while I look at this one.

    @chrisbehnke
: please do feel free to monitor this thread and try out anything that we suggest to hubsaltlake – however we do encourage you to create your own thread if you find the problem is different or a solution that works for hubsaltlake doesn’t work for you.

    Thanks!

Widget links, bottom center of footer do not link to anywhere

I believe this is a known bug with the latest code – we’re literally working on a tidy up version at this very moment and so, hopefully, a fix should be available imminently.

Events page link in nav is not going to active state …On single page event view both Event link and Blog link are highlighted.

Both of these are closely allied, I think. Can you tell me anything about your theme? Is the menu a custom piece of work or is it the default mechanism as provided by Roots?

The reason I ask is that the standard menu walker (as used for instance in a default theme like Twenty Twelve) isn’t affected by this issue, so far as we can see.

I know you stated that you experienced the contrary and I’m unsure why that would be. How is your menu constructed – how did you add the link to the main events page, for example?

    Thanks!

I believe Im having the same issue with the blog post and events. It seems that when I updated http://www.cclaxin.com to events calendar 3.0 it made all the blog post events on the calendar. We have events uploaded to the events section but it looks like post override it. Then the events calendar doesn’t event show up on the events page where it use to be. Not sure if it is the same problem. If it isnt Ill start a new post but I didn’t want to start one if one all ready existed.
    Thanks!

Barry, thanks so much for responding.
    To answer your questions:
    1. The menu is the default menu wrapped into the Roots theme.
    2. I add a link by creating an Events page (in my testing I create the page with Default WP template; I don’t do anything other than to add the title Events and let it auto generate an /events url). I then add the link to our Primary Navigation within the WordPress Menu interface.

This is the procedure I followed with wordpress 2012 theme with no other themes or plugins (other than Events Calendar) and absolutely no code modifications.

I’ll attempt once more with out of the box WP and see if I have left out any steps I go through to create menu item in navigation.

Thanks again! Our team will be so happy once this is solved.

One other thing to note is that in the out-of-the-box WP scenario I am only experiencing the Events link not going to an active state and the dead widget links issue. But the Blog link is not being set to active as it is in the Roots theme.

@hubsaltlake: how odd that you don’t see the events link being set to active. Just to be absolutely clear, are you selecting the Events page (when adding it to your menu) via the list of Events Pages http://d.pr/i/5d3g (to see this box you need to enable events from the top of the Appearance > Menus screen – http://d.pr/i/VKSC)?

It may be that if you are manually entering it as a custom link something doesn’t get connected to trigger the active state.

    @csamaras
: I think that is a quite different problem and would encourage you to create a new thread for it to avoid any confusion.

    Thanks!

I’m still having this issue. I changed themes to twenty twelve, removed the Events link, then added back to the menu in the manner you described above… What could I be doing wrong? It has to be something simple since I am testing on a bare bones theme with no other plugins.

Ok. I have updated the plugin and followed the proper steps successfully. The Events link is being activated on the twenty twelve theme. So now my problem seems to be with the Roots theme. Though I know you do not provide support for other themes I’m going to post my error, just in case you have an obvious solution for me. Plus I think Roots is a pretty popular theme (I may be wrong). My error: Theme without header.php is deprecated since version 3.0 with no alternative available. Please include a header.php template in your theme. in C:\wamp\www\hub-test\wp-includes\functions.php on line 2883

You’re right that we don’t officially support third party themes but we do normally make an effort to help with things like this even so … however, there are a number of themes/theme frameworks (I’m afraid including Roots) which are harder for us to work with because of their atypical structure.

Theme without header.php is deprecated since version 3.0 with no alternative available. Please include a header.php template in your theme.

Probably Roots has no header.php template (which is expected to be present) … you’ll be in a better position to check that out than I am 🙂

However, the fact that this notice is being generated makes me wonder if in Events > Settings > Display you are using the Default Events Template? Changing this to the Default Page Template may solve this particular problem, though it may not do anything to fix the original problem with the menu and the active item being highlighted.
